55-and-older driver improvement courses scheduled

The Minnesota Highway Safety Center will be offering a 55-and-older driver improvement course on the following days:

• March 5: Refresher course from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hayfield Elementary School, 9 Sixth St. SE.

• March 6, March 13: First-time course from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hayfield Elementary School.

• March 8: Refresher course from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1884 22nd St. NW, Rochester.

• March 13: Refresher course from noon to 4 p.m. at Northrup Building, 201 Eighth St. NW, Rochester.

• March 16: Refresher course from noon to 4 p.m. at Northrup Building.

• March 20: Refresher course from noon to 4 p.m. at Northrup Building.

Drivers age 55 and older who complete the course qualify for a 10 percent discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years, according to Minnesota law. First-time participants must complete the initial eight hours of training and a four-hour refresher class every three years to maintain the 10 percent discount.
