Political operative speaking at BYU; UVU holds Sustainability Day
Brigham Young University
Forum — David Axelrod, the former chief strategist and senior advisor to President Barack Obama, will give the forum at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday in the Marriott Center. He is currently the director of the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago and hosts “The Axe Files” podcast.
BYU Singers — The BYU Singers will do a special afternoon concert at 1:25 p.m. Monday at the BYU Museum of Art. The concert is ahead of the biennial conference of the National Collegiate Choral Organization in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Debate — The Dead Reformers’ Debate will be held at 5 p.m. Monday in the Varsity Theatre. The event will include debaters representing figures such as William Tyndale, Martin Luther, St. Theresa and John Calvin in honor of the 500-year anniversary of the Reformation.
FHE — A Family Home Evening event about BYU dating stories will be at 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday in the Education in Zion Gallery in the Joseph F. Smith Building. The event will include stories from the 1880s and now. Call (801) 422-6519 for reservations.
Utah Valley University
Lincoln scholar — Harold Holzer, a scholar who studies Abraham Lincoln, was at UVU on Thursday to present “The President vs. The Media: Lincoln and the Press.” He was there for the start of The Appomattox Project, which is an UVU effort that will look at the ethical dimensions of public life.
Sustainability Day — UVU held Sustainability Day on Wednesday at the Orem campus. The event included a panel discussion on people, politics and energy, a question and answer session on climate change and presentations.
