Cops & Doughnuts seeks new location with plans to return
With the doors at the Cops & Doughnuts McDonald’s Precinct currently closed and a “For Sale” sign on the 103 E. Dowland St. building, some locals have expressed concern that the beloved pastry shop might be closed for good in the Ludington area.
That’s not the case, according to Alan White, one of the nine owners of the franchise that operates at six different locations — or “precincts” — throughout Michigan.
White, who works at the Cops & Doughnuts headquarters in Claire, said the business in Ludington is closed for the winter, but noted that the owners are seeking a new, permanent location for the McDonald’s precinct.
“We’re closed for the winter and we’re trying to find a spot to lease for the main street out there,” White said. “The building is for sale, not the business.”
The hope is to find a new base of operations and reopen in the spring, he said.
