Jefferson gymnastics team loses to Elkhorn
ELKHORN — The Jefferson gymnastics team was defeated by host Elkhorn 139.375-116.625 in a Southern Lakes Conference dual meet on Thursday.
“Overall the coaches were very proud of the girls tonight,” Jefferson gymnastics coaches Charles Fischer said. “With only one day of practice this week, due to the weather, I feel that the team did a great job.”
Jefferson started on the vault and scored 31.95.
Junior Marley Harstford set a personal-best score of 8.40 after completing a half on half off vault.
Junior Kayla Gehrmann scored 8.175 with a half on half off vault. Freshman Eden Harstford scored 7.90 with her half on half off vault. Junior Alexis Nguyen scored 7.475 with a handspring vault.
The Eagles moved to the uneven bars and scored 26.80.
Gehrmann scored 8.00 and Marley Harstford was next with a score of 6.95.
Jefferson next competed on the balance beam and scored 29.95.
Gehrmann and Nguyen each posted marks of 7.05. Eden Harstford scored 6.70 with a no-fall routine to set a personal record.
The Eagles’s final rotation was the floor exercise where they scored 30.925.
Gehrmann scored 8.375 and Marley Harstford scored 7.85 followed by Nguyen with a score of 7.60.
In the all-around competition, Gehrmann scored 31.60 and Marley Harstford scored 29.35.
Nguyen scored 28.175 and Eden Harstford scored 27.50 as each set a new personal record.
Jefferson competes at the Menomonee Falls Invitational on Saturday at 11 a.m.
