Minor injuries after New Hampshire boat explosion, fire
LACONIA, N.H. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the cause of an explosion and fire aboard a boat on Lake Winnipesaukee that sent passengers jumping into the water.
The New Hampshire State Police marine patrol division says a Derry man had just finished fueling his powerboat Saturday evening and had tried multiple times to start it when there was a loud explosion followed by fire. The six passengers jumped into the water, where they were helped to safety by nearby witnesses.
Two others helped tow the boat into the lake away from the fuel dock and other nearby boats.
One man suffered a broken rib, and two children and a woman were treated for minor cuts and bruises.
