Man shot to death after answering door in South Carolina
AIKEN, S.C. (AP) — Officials in South Carolina say a man was shot and later died after he answered a knock on the door of his home.
Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said in a news release that 27-year-old Carl Boyd answered a knock on his door by two men shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday in Aiken.
Carlton said Boyd was taken to Aiken Regional Medical Centers where he was pronounced dead.
Police Capt. Marty Sawyer said the men left before police arrived. Sawyer said one of the men was found a short time later and was being held at the request of the U.S. Marshal Service.
There was no word on a motive for the shooting.
The State Law Enforcement Division is assisting with the investigation.
