UCLA Hires Skip Peete as Assistant Coach
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Skip Peete, older brother of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Rodney Peete, has been hired as the running backs coach at UCLA, the school announced Friday.
Rodney Peete played in college at Southern California, UCLA’s crosstown rival.
Skip Peete comes to UCLA from Rutgers, where he coached the wide receivers last season.
In 1993-94, he was receivers coach on George Perles’ staff at Michigan State, and he served as an assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh from 1989-93 after beginning his coaching career at Pitt as a graduate assistant in 1988.
Peete, a wide receiver in college at Arizona and Kansas, spent the 1987 season as a member of the New York Jets. His father, Willie, served as running backs coach for the Chicago Bears this past season.
``Skip brings a wealth of experience with him to UCLA,″ new Bruins head coach Bob Toledo said. ``Because of his coaching, playing and NFL family background, he has that little extra to offer a young person. We are very pleased he will be joining our staff.″
