History students plan to present research at Detroit museum

January 13, 2020 GMT

DETROIT (AP) — Early Detroit’s fur trade, psychics at the turn of the 19th century and a LGBTQ-led wildcat strike during the 1970s were planned topics for a student research showcase at the Detroit Historical Museum.

Wayne State University graduate and undergraduate students were scheduled to share their research with the public Thursday as part of the museum’s Third Thursday Speaker Series. The history students were to present research from the fall 2019 semester.

Museum officials said the students’ work expands the city’s “historical record.”

The event is free with general admission but registering beforehand was encouraged because of limited space.
