GREENWICH — The new assistant principal joining the team at Central Middle School has more than a decade of experience in the Greenwich Public Schools.

Lindsey Pontieri has been appointed to the job, effective July 1, Superintendent of Schools Jill Gildea announced Friday.

Currently a special education teacher at Western Middle School, Pontieri has been with the GPS since 2007. She has served as a site supervisor for the summer school program and also taught at Greenwich High School.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Central Middle School community,” Pontieri said. “While I’ll miss Western, I’m excited for this next phase of my career in the Greenwich Public Schools.”

CMS Principal Tom Healy welcomed her to the job.

“Ms. Pontieri’s student-centered philosophy and clear understanding of the importance of the middle school years made her the ideal candidate for this position,” Healy said. “Her professional experience has afforded her the knowledge and skill set necessary to step into the assistant principal role and have an immediate impact on student learning and growth. I look forward to having her join our school leadership team and work collaboratively with our school community to continue our efforts to transform teaching and learning to the benefit of every child.”
