Roadrunners will make bowl debut on New Mexico’s home field
UTSA (6-6, C-USA) vs. New Mexico (8-4, Mountain West), Dec. 17, 2 p.m. EST.
LOCATION: Albuquerque, New Mexico.
UTSA: RBs Jarveon Williams and Jalen Rhodes have combined for 1,531 yards and 17 touchdowns; QB Dalton Sturm has thrown for 2,052 yards and 18 TDs.
New Mexico: RB Teriyon Gipson has rushed for 1,209 yards and 12 touchdowns and RB Tyron Owens for 1,084 yards and seven TDs.
UTSA: The Roadrunners, in their sixth season, matched the NCAA record for fastest program to reach a bowl game. South Alabama (2014) and Georgia State (2015) also earned bowl berths in their sixth years.
New Mexico: Bob Davie’s Lobos have won six of their last seven, lead the nation in rushing and are on the verge of setting the school record for total offense.
New Mexico had two 100-yard rushers and scored all of its points in the second half in a 21-9 road win in 2014.
