Eugene-area wineriesring in holiday festivities

Up and down the southern Willamette Valley corridor, wineries will be opening their doors and welcoming in wine enthusiasts, giving thanks to another great harvest year this Thanksgiving Day weekend.

In most cases, music will play, and food will be available for purchase, whether it be roasted chestnuts at Iris Vineyards in the Lorane Valley, or burgers and sides from Chef Billy of Zingaro out at Pfeiffer Winery near Junction City, or simply cheese plates and appetizer fare.

From pinot noir and pinot gris to rosés and rieslings, even sparkling wines, such as at Rainsong Vineyard and Valhalla Winery, it’s time for wines to glimmer and shine. Here’s an overview of upcoming Thanksgiving Day weekend events. Event dates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 24-26, unless otherwise noted.


Bennett Vineyards & Wine Co.: 25974 Hwy. 36, Cheshire. Open 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Entertainment includes The Brewketts, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; Taste, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and Stephen Arriola with Joanne Broh, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Food for purchase on site includes Buzz Burger on Friday, Vinnie’s Smokin’ BBQ on Saturday, and Taco Intrusion on Sunday. Benton-Lane Winery: 23924 Territorial Hwy., Monroe. Open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. all three days. Tasting fee is $10 and includes a logo glass and tastings of six wines; tasting fees are refundable with a $25 wine purchase. Iris Vineyards: 82110 Territorial Hwy., Eugene. Open noon to 6 p.m. all three days. Enjoy a roasting party of estate-grown chestnuts with wine pairing recommendations for $5. J. Scott Cellars: 520 Commercial St., Unit G, Eugene. Open 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Brendan Curry will play live music Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Food available for purchase from The Dumpling Group; the guest winery is Poco Collina. Noble Estate Vineyard & Winery: Three tasting rooms are at 29210 GimplHill Road, Eugene (Noble Estate Vineyards); 560 Commercial St., Eugene (Noble Estate Urban); and 146 S.W. Bay Blvd., Newport (Noble Estate Newport).All three sites will be open Friday through Sunday. Visitors can create custom tasting flights for $5 to $10 at each site. All sites will have wine specials, beer on tap and holiday mixed packs. Specifically, Noble Estate Vineyards is open noon to 5 p.m. all three days and features local stained glass artist from Dragonfly Studios on Sunday. Noble Estate Urban is open 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, featuring live music, locally made chocolate, cheese plates and wine specials. On Friday, live music from Darline Jackson’s My Band plays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Chef Billy from The Zingaro creates a build-your-own-burger bar from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday, the Civil War game between the Ducks and the Beavers will be playing on big screens, plus Steve Hale performs music.
