Story about Euclid man’s home being attacked with eggs in 2015 sparks conversation on Reddit

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A 2015 cleveland.com story about a Euclid man’s home being targeted with eggs has sparked quite a conversation thread on Reddit.

The 85-year-old man’s home was a target of egging attacks that began in March 2014 and didn’t stop as of the March 2015 article.

The invasion of eggs baffled neighbors, local government officials and police who at first weren’t able to identify the source of the attacks.

The Euclid Police Department conducted a lengthy investigation that included undercover stakeouts and neighborhood canvassing. Police even sent eggshells to a crime lab for testing.

But a former neighbor was found to be the source of the attacks and was sentenced to 18 months of probation for the eggings.

A Reddit user, who appears to live near the man, commented Thursday morning that he just learned about the story.

Hundreds of users have since commented on the man’s post, and, let’s face it, they’re pretty humorous.

Police staked out the home for months, one officer was actually hit in the foot by an egg, and fragments of the shells were even taken in for DNA testing, but the egger was never caught..

The eggs damaged much of the existing paint on the home. But thanks to Brook Park company Neubart Painting, the house was painted for free.
