PHILADELPHA (AP) _ Rick Granata rushed for 108 yards in eight carries and scored two touchdowns as Penn took advantage of nine Colgate turnovers to defeat the Red Raiders 38-7 on Saturday.

It was Colgate’s 16th straight loss.

Colgate (0-4) lost six fumbles in the game and had three passes intercepted.

A fumble recovery by Penn’s Tim Foster on the second play of the game at the Colgate 24 set up the Quakers’ first touchdown, a 1-yard run by Jasen Scott.

However, Colgate’s Jason Burney recovered a Quaker bobble at the Penn 12-yard line, and Mark Lindell’s 2-yard run tied the score at 7-7 with 13:55 left in the second period.

Joey Alofaitulli’s recovery at the 1-yard line led to Quaker quarterback Steve Teodecki’s 1-yard run and a 37-yard field goal by Jeremiah Greathouse with 19 seconds left in the half, giving the Quakers a 17-7 lead.

After a scoreless third period Teodecki passed to Travis Arbogast for a 4-yard score on the first play of the fourth quarter, and Granata went 19 yards with 10:50 to play to give Penn a 31-7 advantage. With just 27 seconds left in the game, Granata broke free on a 67-yard run for the game’s final score.

Penn stands at 1-1.
