Football | P-E-M beats K-M in overtime
PLAINVIEW — Plainview-Elgin-Millville won for the first time this season on Friday and did it in dramatic fashion in its Southeast District, Red Sub-District football game with Kasson-Mantorville.
P-E-M scored a touchdown in overtime, then ran in a two-point conversion to beat the KoMets 29-28.
The loss dropped K-M to 2-2 overall.
P-E-M turned things up in the second half after trailing 21-7. The Bulldogs allowed K-M just 88 yards of offense after intermission. For the game, the KoMets had 222 yards rushing and 92 passing.
After K-M scored a touchdown in overtime, Matt Winkle connecting with Jacob Hildebrand for a 4-yard strike in the corner of the end zone, the KoMets kicked the extra point.
P-E-M then scored on its chance with the football in overtime, Carter Marx running in from 5 yards out. The Bulldogs then elected to go for two and the win. They got it as Derek Lockwood plunged in for the score.
Marx finished with 165 yards rushing on 26 carries. Riley Wingert had 81 yards on 14 carries, with a touchdown. Quarterback Joe Irish had a pair of rushing touchdowns.
Dalton Andrist totaled 12 yards rushing for K-M. Winkle finished 5-for-7 passing for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
