Makeover of Santa Fe in the works
Orange cones and barrels signifying road construction are in downtown Salina’s future.
However, keeping Santa Fe Avenue open to both businesses and customers will be a priority when Salina begins an overhaul of the downtown street during the summers of 2018 and 2019.
Jim Kowach, director of Salina’s public works department, said city officials hope to minimize any adverse effects on businesses and customers.
Salina city commissioners will review the streetscape project during a study session today as part of the city’s five-year Capital Improvement Plan. The project is expected to cost between $10 million and $15 million.
