Photo show captures Big Papi, other prominent immigrants

BOSTON (AP) — Some of Boston’s most famous immigrants are making their presence felt at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute.

The center built to honor the late Democratic U.S. senator from Massachusetts is hosting a digital display of photographs of former Red Sox slugger David Ortiz and other prominent immigrants including legislators, physicians, artists, scientists and entrepreneurs.

Last year, the images were projected onto public spaces and landmarks as part of the Boston #StandsWithImmigrants initiative.

This is the first time all 18 photos are being displayed in one location.

Organizers conceived the project to highlight the key role that immigrants play in modern society.

Institute president Mary Grant says the exhibition “offers a compelling and intimate view of immigration in our country.”

The photos will be on display through May 31.
