Louis Rinkol, 89, of Genoa died Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Genoa Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, May 23, 10:30 A.M., at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Krakow, with Father Bill L’Heureux celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, with military honors by Edwin H. Larson Post #144 American Legion. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. vigil service all at the church. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. at the church. Memorials are suggested as those of the donor’s or family choice.
Louis John Rinkol was born March 15, 1929, in St. Edward, Nebraska, to Stanley and Victoria (Czarnick) Rinkol. He attended St. Edward District #66 and SS Peter & Paul Catholic School. Louis farmed and worked at Grosch Irrigation. He entered the United States Army on July 25, 1951, and was honorably discharged on July 24, 1959.
Louis enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead. He was an active member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church where he served on the parish council, was a bell ringer, and put the nativity up for many years. For the Memorial Day service at the parish cemetery, Louis would was in charge of putting the tent up. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and going hunting. He was a member of VFW Post #3704 in Columbus and the Edwin H. Larson Post #144 American Legion in Genoa.
Louis is survived by his brother, Bennie (Verleen) Rinkol of Genoa, brother Clem (Evelyn) Rinkol of Silver Creek, brotherStanley (Geri) Rinkol of Columbus, brother Joe (Janet) Rinkol of Central City, brother Leo (Rose) Rinkol of Columbus, brother Ray (Margie) Rinkol of Columbus and numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Victoria Rinkol, sister Philamae Cheloha and brothers Edward and Edwin Rinkol.
