ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A.J. Davis had a career-high 26 points and nine rebounds, B.J. Taylor added 21 points with six assists and Central Florida beat South Florida 72-57 on Wednesday night in the War On I-4.
Dayon Griffin chipped in 12 points for UCF (16-9, 7-6 American), which made a season-high nine 3-pointers — with a career-high three from Davis.
Terrell Allen, Taylor and Griffin each made a 3-pointer during a four-possession stretch to extend UCF's lead to 53-42 midway through the second half.
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Rob Gray scored 20 points, Devin Davis had key points late and Houston held off UCF 69-65 on Saturday.
Davis split two UCF defenders and laid the ball in just before the shot clock ran out for a 65-61 lead with a minute to go and added two free throws with 34 seconds remaining for a six-point lead.
Gray was 7-of-15 shooting with five assists. Corey Davis Jr. had three 3-pointers and 15 points while Breaon Brady grabbed nine rebounds.
ORLAND0, Fla. (AP) — A.J. Davis scored 11 of his 16 points from the free-throw line and pulled down 11 rebounds to help power UCF to a 65-56 win over Memphis in an American Athletic Conference battle Wednesday night.
The Knights have beaten Memphis three straight times.
Davis, who has now reached double digits in rebounds in nine of the Knights' 15 games, recorded his fifth double-double of the season.
DALLAS (AP) — Jarrey Foster and Shake Milton scored 14 points apiece to help SMU beat UCF 56-51 on Wednesday night in the American Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Foster was 7-of-13 shooting, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots, while Milton had six boards and five assists.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Ceasar DeJesus and Dayon Griffin scored 16 points apiece and the University of Central Florida rallied early in the second half to beat Mercer 88-79 in Friday night's season opener for both teams.
DeJesus made a layup and a dunk amid a 16-3 run the Knights used to open the second half and pulled away after trailing 47-46 at halftime. UCF led by as many as 16 the rest of the way.
