DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Tight end Dwayne Allen has agreed to a $7 million, two-year contract with the Miami Dolphins after helping the New England Patriots win the Super Bowl last month.
Dolphins’ TE Derby placed on IR with foot injury
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Tight end A.J. Derby has been placed on injured reserve by the Miami Dolphins, and they have claimed rookie defensive back Dee Delaney off waivers.
Derby has been hampered by a foot injury much of the season and played in only four games, including the first three.
Delaney, who went undrafted, was waived by Jacksonville on Monday. He has spent much of the season on their practice squad.
Dolphins QB Tannehill back under center in trip to Indy
Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is expected to make his first start in six games because of an injured throwing shoulder when Miami visits the Indianapolis Colts.
Tannehill will be without tight end A.J. Derby, who will miss his sixth game since Sept. 23 with foot and knee injuries. Nick O'Leary is starting in his place.
Colts center Ryan Kelly is out with a sprained ligament in his left knee.
Dolphins’ Tankersley out for season with torn ACL
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins backup cornerback Cordrea Tankersley has a torn knee ligament, the ninth player on the team to sustain a season-ending injury.
"We can't afford any more," coach Adam Gase said Friday. He said the same thing Monday.
The Dolphins also disclosed that quarterback Ryan Tannehill's injury to his throwing shoulder is a capsule injury. He'll miss his fourth game in a row Sunday against the New York Jets.
Texans and Dolphins both missing receivers
HOUSTON (AP) — Both the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins were without a starting receiver on Thursday night with Houston's Keke Coutee out with a hamstring injury and Miami's Kenny Stills inactive because of a groin injury.
Dolphins WR Albert Wilson goes on IR with hip injury
MIAMI (AP) — Receiver Albert Wilson has been placed on injured reserve by the Miami Dolphins because of a hip injury suffered in Sunday's loss to Detroit.
Receiver Leonte Carroo was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster in advance of Miami's game at Houston on Thursday night.
Dolphins DE Wake doubtful against Bengals with knee injury
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake is doubtful for Sunday's game at Cincinnati with a knee injury.
Wake sat out practice for the third day in a row Friday. He has been nursing the injury for a couple of weeks but hasn't missed a game since 2016.
Cornerback Bobby McCain (knee) and tight end A.J. Derby (foot) were ruled out. Seven players were listed as questionable, including safeties Reshad Jones (shoulder) and T.J. McDonald (foot) and receiver DeVante Parker (quad).
Dolphins’ Derby, Branch ruled out against Patriots
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins tight end A.J. Derby and defensive end Andre Branch have been ruled out of Sunday's game at New England.
Derby suffered a foot injury in last week's win over Oakland, and Branch hurt his knee. Derby's injury means more playing time for rookie Mike Gesicki.
Reserve linebacker Chase Allen was also ruled out because of a foot injury.
Dolphins DE Hayes to miss rest of season with torn ACL
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins defensive end William Hayes will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL he suffered trying to avoid a roughing-the-passer penalty.
Hayes was hurt when he sacked Oakland's Derek Carr during Miami's 28-20 victory Sunday.
"He was trying to not put body weight on the quarterback," coach Adam Gase said Monday. "His foot got caught in the ground."
Hayes leads the Dolphins with two sacks. His loss is costly even though the front four was the Dolphins' deepest area.
Broncos waive their most productive tight end
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Thin at tight end, the Denver Broncos made a roster move Saturday that cost them their most productive player at the position.
Down to Virgil Green as their only healthy tight end, the Broncos (3-6) promoted former Wisconsin Badger Austin Traylor from their practice squad. To make room, they waived third-year pro A.J. Derby, who missed practice all week with a shoulder injury while Jeff Heuerman (knee) was also out.
Broncos have plenty to fix after first shutout in 25 years
CARSON, Calif. (AP) — In a locker room still processing the franchise's first shutout since Nov. 22, 1992, the Denver Broncos knew there was plenty of blame to go around after a 21-0 loss at the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
The defense took the blame for not creating turnovers. The special teams took the blame for allowing a punt return touchdown that allowed the Chargers to play with the lead. And the offense, well, where to begin?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs are missing top pass rusher Justin Houston and the Broncos are without tight ends Virgil Green and A.J. Derby for their important AFC West showdown on Sunday night.
Broncos safety T.J. Ward is also out with a concussion, while linebacker Brandon Marshall misses his third straight game with a pulled hamstring. They are joined on the inactive list by linebackers Quentin Gause and Vontarrius Dora and offensive lineman Connor McGovern.

The Broncos (8-6) could see their playoff hopes evaporate with a loss to the Chiefs (10-4) on Christmas night.
Broncos trade for Patriots backup tight end Derby
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos traded a 2017 fifth-round pick to the rival New England Patriots in exchange for tight end A.J. Derby.
To make room, they released veteran safety Shiloh Keo for the second time this season.
Derby was a sixth-round draft pick out of Arkansas last year and has played in four games for the Patriots this season after spending his rookie season on IR.
