AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Michael Weathers scored 22 points and hit three crucial free throws in the final 20 seconds to help lead Miami (Ohio) to a 79-75 upset win over Akron on Tuesday night.
The RedHawks (11-19, 4-13) entered at the game at the bottom of the Mid-American Conference East Division while the Zips had already clinched the outright conference title and the No.1 seed in next week's tournament.

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Jimmy Hall scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Kent State held off Miami (Ohio) 66-62 on Saturday.
Kent State led the entire first half and had a 52-37 lead with 12:50 left. Miami used a 23-7 run to take its only lead, 60-59, with 1:39 remaining. Jake Wright made three 3-pointers, and Abdoulaye Harouna scored six of his eight points during the stretch.

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Michael Weathers scored 18 of his 26 points after halftime, twin brother Marcus Weathers had his first career double-double and Miami (Ohio) overcame a 15-point deficit to beat Grambling State 78-76 in overtime on Wednesday night.
Michael Weathers was 8-for-14 shooting and had a career-best eight assists while Marcus Weathers had career highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Jake Wright and Abdoulaye Harouna scored 12 points apiece — including six in overtime by Harouna.
Miami (Ohio) pulls away late, beats Western Illinois 81-72
OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Michael Weathers scored 19 points; Logan McLane added 17 and Miami (Ohio) beat Western Illinois 81-72 on Saturday.
Weathers shot just 4 of 15 from the floor but made 10 of 13 free throws. McLane was 5 of 10 from the field, made 7 of 8 from the line and grabbed nine rebounds. Jake Wright chipped in 15 points on 5-of-5 shooting from 3-point range for Miami (3-3).
