NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Zach Cooks scored nine of his 21 points in overtime, including the go-ahead 3-pointer, and NJIT defeated North Alabama 76-70 on Sunday.

NJIT (8-2) rebounded from a double-digit loss at UMass Lowell Saturday in which Cooks put up 25 points. The loss snapped a three-game win streak.
Cooks was 8-of-12 shooting, made four 3-pointers and 7 of 12 free-throw attempts. Abdul Lewis added 14 points and nine rebounds and Shyquan Gibbs scored 10 points for the Highlanders.
North Florida dominates 2nd half, beats NJIT 86-75
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Ivan Gandia-Rosa scored 23 points and Osborn Blount added 17 as North Florida dominated the second half to take an 86-75 victory over NJIT on Saturday.
Gandia-Rosa was 7 of 13 from the field while making 7 of 8 free throws. Blount matched his career high with four from distance to finish 5 of 9 from the floor. Garret Sams added 15 points and Noah Horchler had 11 with seven rebounds for North Florida (13-17, 7-6 Atlantic Sun Conference).
FGCU runs win streak to 12, holds off NJIT 75-70
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Christian Terrell led five players in double figures with 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from both the field and free throw line and Florida Gulf Coast won its 12th straight, beating NJIT 75-70 on Thursday night.

The Highlanders (7-6) outscored the Lions 50-26 in the paint and blocked a season-high 13 shots with Abdul Lewis leading the way with four.
Bendary, Tarke, turnovers help NJIT beat UMass Lowell 78-65
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Mohamed Bendary matched a career high, scoring 16 points off the bench, Anthony Tarke added 18 and NJIT forced 23 turnovers to defeat UMass Lowell 78-65 on Sunday.
Tarke had three of the 14 Highlander steals and NJIT (5-3) scored 26 points off the turnovers. UMass Lowell (5-3) entered averaging 13 turnovers a game, but made 14 in the second half alone.
Zach Cooks and Abdul Lewis chipped in 10 points each for the Highlanders, who have won five straight at home.
Lewis guides NJIT to first win over LIU Brooklyn, 73-69
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Abdul Lewis scored 23 points and grabbed 18 of NJIT's 32 rebounds and the Highlanders beat LIU Brooklyn for the first time, 73-69, on Tuesday night.
Lewis added four assists and Diandre Wilson chipped in with 16 points, five rebounds and four steals for the Highlanders (4-2), who were 0-4 against the Blackbirds (2-6) coming in.
NJIT has won three straight games and is off to the best start in school history.

Wilson was 3 of 4 from long distance and made 3 of 4 free throw attempts in just 23 minutes of play. Abdul Lewis had his second double-double of the year with 10 points while grabbing 15 rebounds with two blocks. Shyquan Gibbs chipped in 14 points and Anthony Tarke had 12 for the Highlanders (1-1).
Francis helps Wagner fend off NJIT 60-49
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Blake Francis hit three 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 22 points and Wagner played tough down the stretch to outlast NJIT 60-49 on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.
Reserve Tyler Plummer added 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting with a pair of 3-pointers for the Seahawks, who spoiled the inaugural game in NJIT's new Wellness and Events Center.
