SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Jahmir Hyka scored in the closing minutes to help the San Jose Earthquakes to a 2-2 draw with the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night.
Hyka, in his first MLS action of the season, came on in the 67th minute and first-timed a feed from Quincy Amarikwa to make it 2-2 in the 85th. Florian Jungwirth's cross from the right flank floated through the box to Amarikwa, who tapped it to Hyka for the finish — which deflected off defender Adolfo Machado.
Penilla, Revolution beat 10-man Dynamo 2-0
HOUSTON (AP) — Cristian Penilla had a goal and an assist, and the New England Revolution beat the 10-man Houston Dynamo 2-0 on Saturday night.
Teal Bunbury opened the scoring in the 15th minute for New England (2-1-1), finishing a 4-on-2 break sprung by Penilla's takeaway.
Houston's DaMarcus Beasley was sent off in the 35th minute for the denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity. Beasley took down Penilla, who was on a breakaway.
Dynamo wins 3-0; Nikolic gets Golden Boot award for Fire
HOUSTON (AP) — Romell Quioto and Mauro Manotas scored in the second half to help the Houston Dynamo beat the Chicago Fire 3-0 on Sunday in their regular-season finale.
Houston (13-10-11), which is unbeaten in six matches, will host Sporting Kansas City in the single-game knockout round. Chicago (16-11-7) also secured a home game in the opening round and will face the New York Red Bulls.
Leonardo opened the scoring in the second minute with a header of Adolfo Machado's long throw in.
HOUSTON (AP) — Maximiliano Urruti scored in the 59th minute and FC Dallas tied the Houston Dynamo 1-1 on Friday night in the Texas Derby.
Scored his ninth goal of the season and 10th goal in his last 16 games. Michael Barrios got behind the defense for a through ball and passed it back to the top of the box for Urruti's deflected shot.
FC Dallas (6-3-7) has won six of the last 10 games with three draws — including 0-0 on May 28 — against Houston (7-6-4).
