AIKEN, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina authorities killed a deer that had been hand-raised by humans after the animal became aggressive and attacked several people in Aiken.

AIKEN, S.C. (AP) — Sheriff's deputies in South Carolina have arrested a woman in the beating death of a 76-year-old man.
The Aiken County Sheriff's Office told news outlets that 38-year-old Nikki Price of Columbia has been arrested and charged with murder.
Capt. Eric Abdullah said that Price is charged with killing Kenneth Carlisle Goodwin, whose body was found under a tarp at his home in the Wagner area on Memorial Day.
Man, 92, found dead in house fire that was never reported
AIKEN, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say the body of a 92-year-old man has been found in the debris of his burned out home after no one reported the blaze.
Aiken County sheriff's deputies said a family member called 911 Saturday afternoon after checking on the home and finding it destroyed.
Deputies say fire investigators checking the debris to determine the cause of the fire found the man's remains Sunday morning.
Man shot to death after answering door in South Carolina

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said in a news release that 27-year-old Carl Boyd answered a knock on his door by two men shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday in Aiken.

Colleton County Sheriff's Lt. Tiger Benton told news outlets that deputies arrested 43-year-old Jelani Rondell Aiken of Walterboro around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Aiken is charged with murder in the death of a man in Walterboro late Thursday morning. The victim's name has not been released. Officials have not said how the man died.

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said in a news release that 21-year-old Dante Dunbar was pronounced dead Monday night at the Augusta University Medical Center in Georgia.

KERSHAW, S.C. (AP) — Two people on a motorcycle ride through rural South Carolina are dead after a wreck involving a truck.
Kershaw County Coroner David West says neither rider was wearing a helmet as they headed toward Kershaw on Saturday afternoon. West says dead are 31-year-old Melvin Hopkins of Heath Springs and his passenger, 27-year-old Courtney Michele Lloyd of Kershaw.

AIKEN, S.C. (AP) — In a story May 12 about the proposed production of pits at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina, The Associated Press reported erroneously that pits were planned to store plutonium that would have gone into the production of commercial nuclear fuel at a now-cancelled facility known as MOX. The National Nuclear Security Administration is proposing the creation of new plutonium pits, essentially the triggers for nuclear warheads at the South Carolina site, and also at a site in New Mexico. Energy Secretary Rick Perry already has proposed another disposal method for the old plutonium at the plant.
