LAKEMORE, Ohio (AP) — The father of an unarmed man shot by two police officers who were told by a supervisor not to fire has sued the officers in federal court saying his son is blind and permanently disabled.
The lawsuit was filed Tuesday on behalf of 31-year-old Matthew Burghardt in connection with a February 2018 police shooting outside Akron. Lakemore officer Ezekiel Ryan and Springfield Township officer Kristofer London are the defendants.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a police officer has been wounded and a suspect killed during a SWAT standoff in Ohio.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports police went to a home in Summit County's Franklin Township around 7 p.m. Thursday for a domestic violence call and learned that a man had barricaded himself inside a bedroom. A regional SWAT team was called in about three hours later.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) _ The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. (GT) on Friday reported fourth-quarter net income of $110 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The Akron, Ohio-based company said it had net income of 47 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 51 cents per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 60 cents per share.

15-year sentence for man accused of Islamic State recruiting
AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A North Carolina man accused of trying to recruit people to conduct terrorist attacks in the name of the Islamic State group has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in Ohio.
A jury in Akron found 38-year-old Erick Jamal Hendricks guilty last year on charges of conspiracy and attempt to provide material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization.
Hendricks was arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2016, on a federal complaint filed in Cleveland.

Authorities ID woman, children found dead after house fire
AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities have released the names of a woman and her three children who were found dead inside an Ohio home that had caught fire.
An investigator with the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office said Thursday that the mother found dead Wednesday in Akron was 31-year-old Lydia Aponte. Investigator Gary Guenther and Akron fire officials on Thursday identified the children as 10-year-old MaKayla Montero, 6-year-old Isaiah Ortiz and 4-year-old Aiden Ortiz.
Woman, 3 children found dead after home catches fire
AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A woman and her three children have been found dead inside an Ohio home that caught fire Wednesday morning, authorities said.
An Akron Fire Department spokeswoman said the fire was reported around 9 a.m. in Akron's Kenmore neighborhood. Firefighters weren't able to get inside the home to rescue people because flames had engulfed the structure, spokeswoman Sierjie Lash said.
