SHENZHEN, China (AP) — Pierre-Hugues Herbert advanced to the quarterfinals of the Shenzhen Open by beating second-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6 (4) on Wednesday.
The Frenchman won 79 percent of the points on his first serve and 55 percent on his second.

MONACO (AP) — Jared Donaldson ranted at the chair umpire over a line call during his 6-3, 6-3 loss to Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters on Monday.
The 21-year-old American got irate with a call when Ramos-Vinolas was serving at 3-2, 40-0 in the second set. Donaldson thought the serve was out and pointed to the ground, shouting, "There's a mark right here," and then screaming the same words inches from the face of French chair umpire Arnaud Gabas.
MARRAKECH, Morocco (AP) — Russian qualifier Alexey Vatutin beat top-seeded Albert Ramos-Vinolas 7-6 (4), 6-2 Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals of the Grand Prix Hassan II.
Vatutin is playing in his first ATP World Tour event and next faces two-time champion Pablo Andujar in the last eight.

MARRAKECH, Morocco (AP) — Top-seeded Albert Ramos-Vinolas was near-perfect on his first serve to dispatch Moroccan wild-card entry Amine Ahouda 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour to reach the second round of the Grand Prix Hassan II on Tuesday.
Ramos-Vinolas of Spain took 20 of 22 points on his first serve to win in 68 minutes. He reached the final in Marrakech in 2012 when he lost to compatriot Pablo Andujar.
Top-seeded Carreno Busta knocked out of Kremlin Cup
MOSCOW (AP) — Top-seeded Pablo Carreno Busta was knocked out of the Kremlin Cup in the second round by Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday.
The Russian broke 11th-ranked Carreno Busta twice in each set.

Pliskova sweeps into Cincinnati semis, Nadal comes up short
MASON, Ohio (AP) — Defending champion Karolina Pliskova pulled off a doubleheader sweep Friday at the Western & Southern Open, reaching the semifinals by winning a pair of matches with little rest in-between. Rafael Nadal couldn't do the same.
Pliskova completed a match that was suspended overnight because of rain, beating qualifier Camila Giorgi in three sets. After a quick turnaround, she needed only 67 minutes to beat a rested Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-4 for a sweep into the semis.
HALLE, Germany (AP) — The fifth-seeded Gael Monfils was upset at the Gerry Weber Open, while second-seeded Dominic Thiem had no difficulties with his opening match on Monday.
Thiem defeated German qualifier Maximilian Marterer 7-5, 6-3 for a second-round meeting with Robin Haase or David Ferrer.
Monfils lost 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 to French compatriot Richard Gasquet, who saved 11 of the 13 break points he faced and won in just over two hours despite Monfils' 22 aces to his one.

MARRAKECH, Morocco (AP) — Last year's finalist Borna Coric saved eight break points to beat local wild card Reda El Amrani and reach the quarterfinals at the Grand Prix Hassan II on Wednesday.

Cuevas wins 3rd straight Brazil Open after 2 days
SAO PAULO (AP) — Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay has won his third straight Brazil Open — but it took him two days to do it.
In the rain-delayed clay-court tournament, Cuevas finally wrapped up the title on Monday with a 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-4 victory against Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain.
The Spaniard won the first set on Sunday, but the second set was stopped by rain at 3-3 and deuce with Ramos Vinolas serving. The break gave the Uruguayan time to rally.

2nd-seeded Thiem reaches semifinals of clay-court Rio Open
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Second-seeded Dominic Thiem beat Diego Schwartzman of Argentina 6-2, 6-3 on Friday to reach the Rio Open semifinals, where he is the favorite following No. 1 Kei Nishikori's defeat in the first round.
Thiem has won seven ATP singles titles — five of those on clay. He was tested at times, saving eight break points out of 10, but took all six of his chances on Schwartzman's serve.
No. 4 Carreno Busta reaches quarterfinals at Rio Open
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Fourth-seeded Pablo Carreno Busta has reached the quarterfinals of the clay-court Rio Open, defeating Victor Estrella Burgos 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
The Spaniard will face Alexandr Dolgopolov, who won his second-round match on Thursday against Horacio Zeballos 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-4.
Carreno Busta is one of only three seeded players remaining in the tournament, which saw top-seeded Kei Nishikori of Japan beaten in the first round.
Top-seeded Cilic loses in 2nd round at Chennai Open
CHENNAI, India (AP) — Top-seeded Marin Cilic was beaten in the second round of the Chennai Open on Wednesday, losing to 117th-ranked Jozef Kovalik 7-6 (5), 5-7, 7-5.
"It was the first match of the season and I was a little hesitant to go for my shots," said Cilic, the 2014 U.S. Open champion.
Kovalik will next face Daniil Medvedev of Russia in quarterfinals. Medvedev advanced by beating eighth-seeded Yen-Hsun Lu of Taiwan 6-4, 6-3.
Chinese wild card Wu beats Cuevas at Shanghai Masters
SHANGHAI (AP) — Chinese wild card Wu Di upset 16th-seeded Pablo Cuevas 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (2) in front of his hometown fans in the opening round of the Shanghai Masters Sunday.
Wu, who lives in Shanghai, had failed to get past the opening round in five previous appearances in the main draw of the tournament.
The 184th-ranked Chinese player broke Cuevas seven times in the match, including five in the third set. The players traded 10 breaks of serve in the deciding set.
