Tuesday's primary includes races for U.S. Senate, U.S. House and the Legislature.
Congressman Evan Jenkins is among six candidates seeking the Republican U.S. Senate nomination. The ballot for his 3rd District House seat is packed with seven Republicans and four Democrats.
Candidates in the primary election races for U.S. House in West Virginia, including names, occupations and hometowns:
Ralph Baxter, retired international law firm CEO, Wheeling
Kendra Fershee, West Virginia University law professor, Morgantown
I keep asking a "why" question that to those who understand how the wheels of government run on political terms, can be easily answered.
A few weeks ago, I pointed out that it was Rep. Evan Jenkins, the 3rd District congressman, who was addressing the crowd at a Yeager Airport groundbreaking project. At the time, I noted that Yeager and Charleston are not in Jenkins' district but, instead, in the district of fellow GOP Rep. Alex Mooney.

She says Mooney voted to repeal and replace the Affordable Care with a Republican substitute that would take away health care for many.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — A research group that examines how government policies affect low-income Americans says the latest proposal to replace the Affordable Care Act will particularly hurt rural communities including those in West Virginia.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — At a Town Hall meeting that drew 600 people, Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin says the Affordable Care Act needs repair but the current plan to replace it represents bad politics by Republicans trying to keep promises to repeal the program established under then-President Barack Obama.
At the fourth such meeting organized by health-care advocates, Manchin says the pending House Republican proposal would make things worse.
