Acura becomes title sponsor of Long Beach Grand Prix
LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — The Long Beach Grand Prix will have Acura as its title sponsor starting in April when the 45th edition is run in the streets of the seaside city.
Race officials said Tuesday that a multiyear deal was reached with the automaker whose U.S. headquarters is in nearby Torrance.
Honda, the American parent of Acura, has had a long association with the IndyCar race. Honda-powered cars have won six of the last 10 races, including last year with Alexander Rossi.
Rossi replaces Rahal for Team Penske endurance races

SONOMA, Calif. (AP) — Ryan Hunter-Reay snatched the pole from championship contender Scott Dixon in the final seconds of qualifying Saturday at Sonoma Raceway.
Hunter-Reay crossed the timing line in 1 minute, 17.6277 seconds to earn his first pole of the season and deny Dixon the top starting spot. Dixon, who is vying for a fifth IndyCar title, went 1:17.7599 and was atop the leader board until the very end when Hunter-Reay shot to the top.

Dixon finished fifth, far behind race winner Takuma Sato, but put together the kind of drive that may define his season. He started 11th, was collected in an opening-lap crash, penalized for speeding on pit road and twice drove through the field from 20th.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Will Power is clinging to a spot in the championship race and the Indianapolis 500 winner will start from the pole in IndyCar's return to Portland International Raceway.
Power won the 54th pole of his career and fourth of the season. The Australian is coming off a victory last weekend and a victory Sunday on the permanent road course would ensure he's got a shot at winning his first IndyCar title.
