The Allentown, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of 57 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 52 cents per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 49 cents per share.

Skier dies after fall at Pennsylvania resort
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Officials say a 21-year-old man died after a fall at a ski resort in eastern Pennsylvania, the third death at a ski resort in the area this year.
Blue Mountain spokeswoman Tricia Matsko says the skier fell after going over a snow jump on a beginner's trail around 6 p.m. Sunday.
The man, whose name hasn't been released, was pronounced dead at Palmerton Hospital. An autopsy is planned. Matsko says the man wasn't wearing a helmet.
Ex-Allentown administrator spared jail time

Former Allentown managing director Francis Dougherty, who pleaded guilty to a corruption charge almost two years ago, was sentenced Friday to three years' probation and ordered to pay more than $18,700 in restitution and a $10,000 fine.

Police say the 40-year-old man entered the lobby of Allentown police headquarters Sunday night and tried to enter the locked interior doors.

Fifty-one-year-old Derbe "Skip" Eckhart of Emmaus pleaded guilty Monday in Allentown to dozens of animal cruelty and neglect counts and no contest to witness intimidation in cases involving animals at properties in Heidelberg and Upper Milford Township.

Terry Rang named editor-in-chief of The Morning Call
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Tribune Publishing has named Terry Rang as editor-in-chief of The Morning Call, where she has held a series of senior positions.
Rang had been serving as interim editor-in-chief, and before that, as managing editor.
Before joining the Morning Call in 2000, she spent nearly 20 years at the Pottsville Republican, rising through the ranks to managing editor.
Teen dies after falling off chair lift at ski resort
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A New Jersey teenager has died after falling off a chair lift at a ski resort in eastern Pennsylvania.
Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller Jr. on Wednesday identified the victim as 17-year-old Connor Golembiewski of Flemington. Miller says the teen suffered multiple blunt force injuries after falling off a chair lift at Blue Mountain Resort near Palmerton.
Brewpubs bracing for state to start collecting sales tax
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — For Pennsylvania residents, a glass of craft beer at the local brewpub could soon get a little more expensive.
Beginning in June, the state will start collecting 6 percent sales tax from brewers. That has some worrying that passing the cost on to customers could hurt business.
The tax initially was supposed to be collected starting on Jan. 1, but opposition from brewers helped delay it until June. They are expected to continue to seek changes.

Man faces life without parole in road rage shooting

Jurors in Lehigh County deliberated less than an hour Friday before convicting 37-year-old Curtis Nathan Thomas of first-degree murder and fleeing police. The judge convicted him separately of firearms charges.
