LOS ANGELES (AP) — Allison Janney even thanked the bird.
After winning the best supporting actress Oscar on Sunday for her turn as the hard-as-nails, chain-smoking mother of Tonya Harding in "I, Tonya," Janney began her speech by joking that she "did it all by myself."
After the raucous laughs died down, she said there could be "nothing further from the truth."
There were bold reds and classic whites, warrior-worthy golds and playful pops of pink and purple on the Oscars red carpet, but the fashion takeaway seemed more about keeping the clothes out of the way so the conversation could turn to pressing matters: Honoring history, standing up for women and supporting diversity.
List of winners for the 90th Academy Awards presented Sunday by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences:
Best Picture: "The Shape of Water."
Actor: Gary Oldman, "Darkest Hour."
Actress: Frances McDormand, "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri."
Supporting Actor: Sam Rockwell, "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri."

Directing: "The Shape of Water," Guillermo del Toro.
Looks in neutrals, reds and purples brought the drama Sunday on the Oscars carpet, along with a healthy dose of shiny gold, but Nicole Kidman stood out in stunning cobalt blue at Hollywood's biggest fashion show.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Academy Awards seem like formality when it comes to the best supporting actress category this year.
Since the world devoured Allison Janney's brilliantly acidic performance as Tonya Harding's abusive mother in "I, Tonya," she has won nearly every major award she's been up for, including a BAFTA, a Screen Actors Guild award, a Golden Globe and a Critics' Choice prize.
