Texans and Dolphins both missing receivers
HOUSTON (AP) — Both the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins were without a starting receiver on Thursday night with Houston's Keke Coutee out with a hamstring injury and Miami's Kenny Stills inactive because of a groin injury.
Houston’s Hal returns to practice after fight with cancer
HOUSTON (AP) — Safety Andre Hal, who is in remission after being diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, resumed practicing with the Houston Texans on Wednesday, giving the team 21 days to take him off the non-football illness list and add him to the active roster.
Hal was diagnosed with the disease in May and immediately began treatment. He received the news of his remission on Sept. 18.

Hal was diagnosed with the disease in May and immediately began treatment. He received the news of his remission on Sept. 18. He chose not to undergo chemotherapy, instead opting for a less aggressive form of treatment with hopes of returning to the field this season.
Along with his medical treatment he also used non-traditional forms of treatment such as acupuncture to aid in his healing efforts.
Miller among those cut by Texans to get roster to 53
HOUSTON (AP) — Receiver Braxton Miller, a third-round pick in 2016, was among those cut by the Houston Texans as they trimmed their roster to 53 players for the regular season.
Miller was twice named Big Ten offensive player of the year as a quarterback at Ohio State before transitioning to receiver after an injury. He saw limited action in two seasons with the Texans, finishing his career in Houston with 34 receptions for 261 yards and two touchdowns in 21 games.
HOUSTON (AP) — Houston Texans safety Andre Hal has been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma and insists he "will beat it."
He received the preliminary diagnosis of cancer of the blood cells from team physician Dr. James Muntz and has consulted with doctors at Houston's MD Anderson Cancer Center, the team said Friday.
The Texans added that Hal is "undergo testing and evaluation and is discussing his treatment options."
Pick Party: Bortles trying to avoid another Pick-6 vs Texans
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles has quite a streak going against AFC South rival Houston.
Bortles has thrown a Pick-6 in three consecutive games against the Texans, tying an NFL record set by Peyton Manning.
"I've got to be a better tackler," Bortles joked Wednesday.
Texans’ Jadeveon Clowney out for game against Packers
HOUSTON (AP) — Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is out for game against the Green Bay Packers because of elbow and wrist injuries.
The Texans announced Saturday he'll be sidelined for the first time this season and won't travel with the team. Clowney has a career-high 12 tackles for losses.
Other Texans out against the Packers are running back Tyler Ervin (ribs), linebacker John Simon (chest) and wide receiver Jaelen Strong (ankle).

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Maybe the Texans thought Jacoby Brissett would run out of bounds at the 5 in the first quarter of his first NFL start.
After all, with Tom Brady suspended and Jimmy Garoppolo injured, the Patriots didn't have any other quarterbacks on the roster to call upon if the 23-year-old rookie got hurt.
