Ramirez, Tropeano agree to Angels deals, avoid arbitration
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Angels agreed to one-year contracts with right-handers JC Ramirez and Nicholas Tropeano that avoided salary arbitration.
Ramirez agreed at $1,901,000 on Thursday, a raise of $1,000. Tropeano's deal is for $1,075,000, up from $552,500 in his first year of arbitration eligibility.
After breaking through as a big-league starter in 2017, Ramirez made two starts last season and had Tommy John surgery. He could be ready to return late this season.

NEW YORK (AP) — Matt Harvey has agreed to an $11 million, one-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels, returning to the team that drafted him out of high school but failed to sign the pitcher.
Harvey's deal was disclosed by a person familiar with the negotiations who spoke Tuesday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the agreement had not yet been announced.
Ohtani’s 8th-inning HR sends Angels to sweep of Rangers, 3-2
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Shohei Ohtani knows what's possible after Tommy John surgery from watching Andrew Heaney's pitching performances this season for the Los Angeles Angels.
At the plate, Ohtani keeps doing things that aren't possible for many other sluggers.
Ohtani hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning, sending the Angels to a 3-2 victory and a three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.
Astros top Angels 11-3, clinch a postseason berth
Yuli Gurriel hit a grand slam and a two-run homer on his way to a career-high seven RBIs, and the Houston Astros clinched a postseason berth by routing the Los Angeles Angels 11-3 on Friday night.
George Springer added a three-run shot in the eighth for the Astros, who are still looking to secure the AL West title. The defending World Series champions maintained their 3 1/2-game lead over second-place Oakland, which beat Minnesota 7-6 in 10 innings.
Heaney tosses 7 shutout innings, Angels top White Sox 1-0
CHICAGO (AP) — Andrew Heaney began the season on the disabled list with an elbow injury. Now, the 27-year-old left-hander is on the verge of finishing with a slew of career bests.
Heaney tossed three-hit ball over seven innings and struck out a career-high 12, lifting the Los Angeles Angels over the Chicago White Sox 1-0 Sunday for a three-game sweep.
Beltre, Andrus back Minor in Rangers’ 4-2 win over Angels
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — It was another Minor victory for the Texas Rangers, after they went ahead on solo homers by Adrian Beltre and Elvis Andrus.

Heaney pitches 6 scoreless innings, Angels beat Astros 5-2
HOUSTON (AP) — Even Andrew Heaney couldn't remember his last road win.
"Apparently, it's been awhile," the left-hander said.
Heaney pitched six scoreless innings, Andrelton Simmons capped a four-run sixth inning with a three-run double and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Houston Astros 5-2 Thursday night.
Heaney (8-8) scattered five hits with six strikeouts to earn his first road win since Sept. 2, 2015, at Oakland, a span of 17 straight road starts.
Angels score 4 runs in 10th inning, beat Padres 6-3
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Justin Upton caught one home run ball, just missed snatching another. And then he hit one of his own.
"Two for three on home run balls? I'll take that," Upton said after his two-run shot capped a four-run, 10th-inning rally that carried the Los Angeles Angels past the San Diego Padres 6-3 on Monday night.
Upton robbed pinch-hitter Eric Hosmer in the eighth when he went above the left-field wall to turn a go-ahead, three-run homer into a tying sacrifice fly.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Newly acquired outfielder Tommy Pham has been placed on the 10-day disabled list by the Tampa Bay Rays because of a broken right foot.
Pham was hit on the foot by a pitch from Los Angeles Angels left-hander Andrew Heaney on Thursday. He had an MRI on Friday.
"It showed a hairline fracture," Pham said. "I was told two to four weeks. I can't do much this first few days. After that I'll get re-evaluated to see if I can do anything."
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Mike Trout may have finally broken out of his slump.
The two-time American League MVP drove in a teammate for the first time in more than a month, homering to cap a seven-run burst in seventh inning for the Angels in a 14-5 rout of the Houston Astros on Sunday.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kole Calhoun is making himself right at home at Dodger Stadium, blasting three homers in two games of the Freeway Series.
Calhoun homered on his first pitch from All-Star closer Kenley Jansen in the 10th inning, lifting the Los Angeles Angels to a 5-4 victory over the Dodgers on Saturday night after the Angels blew two leads.
"It's fun to watch," Angels starter Andrew Heaney said. "This is the Kole we all know and that's what we expect from him."
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Shohei Ohtani's versatility was on display again Sunday.
The two-way star launched a pinch-hit home run in the seventh inning that sent Andrew Heaney and the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Bothered by a sore knee, Ohtani drove his first career pinch-hit homer a projected 443 feet to center field, breaking a 3-all tie. It also was the Angels' first pinch-hit home run of the season.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Shohei Ohtani's pinch-hit home run in the seventh inning sent Andrew Heaney and the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Andrew Heaney feels awfully comfortable on the mound in Anaheim — and the results reflect that.

Heaney throws one-hitter on 27th birthday
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Andrew Heaney's day started with the gift of an electric bike he was driving around the stadium and a card from his mom for his 27th birthday.
The day got even better. Heaney pitched a one-hitter to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 1-0 win over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.
Heaney only allowed a single to Hunter Dozier with one out in the fifth and needed 116 pitches to pitch his first complete game. He got all 27 outs, which was appropriate on his 27th birthday.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Angels reliever Keynan Middleton will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, putting an early end to his second big-league season.
Middleton confirmed his decision Thursday night.
Middleton left a game against Minnesota last Sunday in the middle of an at-bat after 12 pitches. He had appeared in three games in four days after a stint on the disabled list with elbow inflammation.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — After Andrew Heaney induced a long flyout with his 100th and final pitch, he left the mound with the fervent hope that the Los Angeles Angels were on their way to a victory that would deliver a statement to the mighty Houston Astros.
With late help from Kole Calhoun's arm in right field, the Angels made it.

Angels’ Alex Meyer likely to miss 2018; Heaney day-to-day
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Angels right-hander Alex Meyer is likely to miss the 2018 season after surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder.
Angels general manager Billy Eppler had better news on left-hander Andrew Heaney on Monday, saying an MRI exam revealed nothing seriously wrong with his shoulder.
Meyer's surgery will be performed Tuesday by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, and the typical recovery time is 12 months.
