Howard’s eruption leads Marquette past Bethune-Cookman
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Markus Howard scored 37 points and Marquette beat Bethune-Cookman 92-59 on Saturday.
Howard posted the highest scoring total for a Marquette (2-0) player in a home game in 12 years, and tied the second-highest mark of his career on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor and 10 of 11 from the free throw line.
Rowsey leaves with records, Marquette hopeful for future
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Marquette is losing its single-season scoring leader but heading into the offseason with hope for the future.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Markus Howard scored 22 points, and Marquette held on to beat Harvard 67-60 on Wednesday night in the first round of the NIT despite three turnovers in the final minute.
The Golden Eagles held a seemingly comfortable nine-point lead with 1:20 left when the Crimson's pressure defense created three steals.
But Harvard managed just two points off the mistakes after Justin Bassey missed two foul shots and threw the ball away after the final steal with 21 seconds left.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Sam Hauser was 5 of 10 from 3-point range and scored 19 points on Monday night to help Marquette beat DePaul 70-52.
Andrew Rowsey reached 2,000 career points on his first free throw of the night and finished with 11 points, nine assists and five steals for the Golden Eagles (13-6, 4-3 Big East). Rowsey played his first two seasons for UNC Asheville and is a senior at Marquette. Theo John also scored 11.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Kelan Martin scored a career-high 37 points and Butler snapped a three-game losing streak by beating Marquette 94-83 on Friday night.
Martin made four 3-pointers and hit all nine of his free throws while adding seven rebounds for the Bulldogs, who lost their three previous games to ranked opponents after they upset No. 1 Villanova on Dec. 29.
Kamar Baldwin added 19 points and Tyler Wideman 16 with Butler shooting 59 percent and committing just three turnovers.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Andrew Rowsey hit 6 of 9 shots from long range and scored a season-high 35 points as Marquette handled Georgetown 74-65 in a Big East Conference battle Saturday.
Rowsey hit six treys and scored 31 points in a 91-87 loss to No. 6 Xavier in the conference opener.
Georgetown, which started the season 10-1 under first-year coach Patrick Ewing, lost to Butler in double overtime in the conference opener and now is 0-2 in conference.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Markus Howard hit all nine of his free-throw attempts and finished with 26 points and Sam Hauser scored 21, including four 3-pointers, to help Marquette pull away for a 79-70 win over Northern Illinois on Monday night.

Badgers men’s basketball: Short-handed Wisconsin can’t keep up as Marquette rolls to 82-63 win
Just when it seemed as though the situation couldn’t get worse for the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team, it did.

Howard grabbed six rebounds and was also 6 of 6 at the free-throw line for the Golden Eagles (6-3). The sophomore guard has made all 26 of his free throws this season and has hit 35 straight overall. Sam Hauser scored 17 on 7-of-10 shooting with six rebounds and four assists, while Andrew Rowsey chipped in with 13 points and 10 assists.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Markus Howard broke his own school record with 11 3-pointers and Marquette made a program-record 18 treys in a 95-69 victory over Chicago State on Wednesday night.
Howard was 11 of 15 from the 3-point line, besting his previous record of nine, in scoring 33 points. He missed his only shot from inside the arc. The Golden Eagles (5-2) were 18 of 39 on 3-pointers for 46 percent while shooting 53 percent overall. They were only 9 of 15 from the free-throw line.
Hauser hits 6 3s, scores 30; Marquette beats E. Illinois
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Sam Hauser hit six 3-pointers and finished with 30 points and four assists — all career highs — and Andrew Rowsey scored five of his 15 points in overtime to help Marquette beat Eastern Illinois 86-83 on Monday night.
Hauser was 10-of-15 shooting and tied his career best with nine rebounds. Marquette (4-2) never trailed after Hauser's sixth 3-pointer opened overtime.
Marquette beats LSU 94-84 for third in Maui
LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — A lopsided loss to Wichita State in the Maui Invitational semifinals hurt Marquette. The Golden Eagles thought they could be competitive with one of the nation's top teams and didn't measure up.
The key was to regroup, find a way to win the third-place game and go home with two wins instead of one. A big second half allowed them to do that.
Marquette opens Maui Invitational with 94-83 win over VCU
LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — Markus Howard gathered the ball, gave a head fake, quickly moved his right foot forward to make the defender think he would drive to the basket. That one little jab step was enough to get the defender leaning and Howard stepped back for a 3-pointer that swished through.
After a rare poor-shooting half, the nation's best 3-point shooter had found his rhythm.
Rowsey scores 23, Marquette beats Mount Saint Mary’s 80-59
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Andrew Rowsey scored 23 points and Matt Heldt had 11 of his 13 points in the first half to help Marquette pull away early for an 80-59 win over Mount Saint Mary's on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
Haanif Cheatham also had 13 points and Markus Howard scored 11 for Marquette. Rowsey hit three 3-pointers and added five assists and three steals.
