Angelina Jolie doesn’t rule out move into politics
LONDON (AP) — Angelina Jolie has not ruled out a move into politics — and has joked that she might be tough enough to take the rough and tumble that comes with it.
The American actress and U.N. envoy told BBC radio she "can take a lot on the chin" — a possible reference to her bitter divorce from Brad Pitt.
When asked if she is moving in the direction of politics, the 43-year-old Oscar winner said, "I honestly will do whatever I think can really make change."
Venezuelan migrants hit Peru’s street, dancing to survive
LIMA, Peru (AP) — The three Venezuelan migrants eke out a living 90 seconds at a time in a busy intersection of Peru's capital. When the traffic light flashes red, the acrobatics and break dancing starts.
With a captive audience of pedestrians and commuters packed inside city buses, the dancers' headstands, dizzying spins and fast-paced steps on a good day net up to $20 in pocket change — nearly three times the monthly minimum wage in Venezuela.

Angelina Jolie seeks support for Venezuelan refugees
LIMA, Peru (AP) — Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie said Tuesday the exodus of hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans from their country has led to a "shocking" migrant crisis in South America that was "predictable and preventable."
Jolie was ending a three-day visit to Peru as a special envoy for the United Nations refugee agency. During her visit Jolie met Venezuelan refugees who live at a shelter in the capital city and also went to a border crossing in the north of the country.

Ed Skrein is reportedly in talks to star in the 'Maleficent' sequel.
The 35-year-old actor - who has previously appeared in 'Game of Thrones' and 'Deadpool' - is locked in final negotiations over starring in the much-anticipated Disney movie, which will see Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning reprise their original roles.
Brad Pitt is "absolutely smitten" with Neri Oxman.
The 54-year-old actor has reportedly been "quietly dating" the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) professor since last autumn and things are going well for the couple.
A source told Us Weekly magazine: "Brad's absolutely smitten by her. Their chemistry is off the charts.
"They got romantically involved almost right away. He's been going to great length to make sure he's not spotted by prying eyes."
Angelina Jolie has "no interest" in dating.
The 42-year-old actress split from her estranged husband Brad Pitt - with whom she has Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 11, and nine-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox - after two years of marriage in 2016, and although dating rumours have been circling the 'Maleficent' star, sources have insisted her only focus right now is her brood.
Kate Hudson has thanked her mother Goldie Hawn for teaching her to stand up for herself in Hollywood.
The movie business in the US was rocked in 2017 when numerous actresses, including Rose McGowan, Cara Delevingne and Angelina Jolie, and female employees of The Weinstein Company publicly accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment or assault.
Those allegations were followed by numerous men coming forward with claims of sexual misconduct by Kevin Spacey
New ‘Tomb Raider’ flick just an OK film, nothing more, nothing less
"Tomb Raider," the new Lara Croft prequel by director Roar Uthaug ("The Wave," "Cold Prey," "Magic Silver"), is basically "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in the dark; written, directed and acted with none of Indiana Jones' sense of humor.
Probably due to the fact that it is also offered in 3-D, half of this movie's action sequences are filmed in almost total darkness. You can still see the action, but it is just too dark (disclaimer: I am NOT a fan of modern 3-D).
An Angelina Jolie cameo in the new 'Tomb Raider' movie wouldn't have worked, according to producer Graham King.
The 42-year-old actress starred as Lara Croft in two movies based on the popular video game franchise - 'Lara Croft: Tomb Raider' in 2001, and 2003's 'Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life' - and after the franchise was rebooted with a new movie simply entitled 'Tomb Raider' with Alicia Vikander in the lead role, executives were keen to get Angelina back for a cameo role.
Angelina Jolie "loves" seeing herself age.
The 'By The Sea' star doesn't mind getting older as it "means she's alive" and says it "warms" her seeing her look more and more like her mother.
Here are the movies opening in wide release Friday:
* I Can Only Imagine -- Newcomer J. Michael Finley stars in this drama based on the true untold story behind contemporary Christian band MercyMe's inspirational 2001 hit of the same name. Also starring Dennis Quaid and Cloris Leachman -- Rated PG
Here are the movies opening in Northeast Nebraska Friday:
* Tomb Raider -- The Danish Girl's Alicia Vikander takes on the role of Lara Croft, in this reboot of the 2001 film starring Angelina Jolie as the video game heroin. This time out, Croft embarks on a perilous journey to solve the mystery of her father's disappearance. Dominic West and Justified's Walton Goggins also star -- Rated PG-13
Some tombs are best left unraided.
Not that the original "Tomb Raider" series represents some sort of hallowed cinematic ground. Far from it. But the rebooted "Tomb Raider" — starring Oscar winner Alicia Vikander as jungle-dwelling, butt-kicker Lara Croft — doesn't add enough value to the property to justify its existence, Vikander's presence, or your time. You're best to leave it buried.
Movie Minute: Lara Croft is back in 'Tomb Raider'
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Move over Angelina Jolie, there's a new Lara Croft in town.
Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander takes over the role of the swashbuckling hunter of lost artifacts from the "Tomb Raider" movie and video game series. Will this reboot fare better than the mediocre success of the original? Only time will tell.
Brad Pitt is reportedly "sorting himself out" after splitting from estranged wife Angelia Jolie in 2016.
The 54-year-old actor and the 'Maleficent' actress - who have Maddox, 15, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 11, and nine-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne together - went their separate ways at the end of 2016 after two years of marriage, and are still undergoing their divorce.
Billy Summers: ‘Red Sparrow’ has the makings of a good spy movie, but it’s much too slow
I can't wait for the new Francis Lawrence ("Water for Elephants," "I Am Legend," "The Hunger Games" franchise) adaptation of "Red Sparrow" to come out on DVD!
Then I can speed it up to about 125 percent and watch a very good movie.
Alicia Vikander doesn't think there are "enough women" in the new 'Tomb Raider' film.
The 29-year-old actress stars as the iconic gaming character Lara Croft in the forthcoming rebooted blockbuster and, although she's thrilled that it revolves around a strong lady, she was "disappointed" that the majority of the cast were men.
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo seems amused by suggestions that former "Sex and the City" star Cynthia Nixon's apparent interest in challenging him in a Democratic primary is being backed by New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.
Cuomo was asked during a conference call on Wednesday's nor'easter whether the Democratic mayor was pushing Nixon as a candidate to vex the New York governor, who has a testy relationship with de Blasio.
GREENWICH — Last November, four prominent women paid homage to French filmmaker Agnès Varda at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Governors Awards. After Angelina Jolie extolled Varda as a pioneer in film, the French icon claimed the mic for herself.
In front of an audience of admirers, she smiled humbly, gratefully. But beneath her happiness lay a touch of surprise.
“Are there no men in this room who love me to speak up?” she asked.
The scorching hit London revival of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” will get an encore transmission at the Ridgefield Playhouse.
