LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Golden Globe nominations recognized Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's talents as actors, but Thursday's announcement also came with a nod for their soulful duet "Shallow" from "A Star is Born."
They join an impressive roster of music stars who earned Globe nominations Thursday, including Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Dolly Parton, Annie Lennox and Troye Sivan and Jonsi.

NEW YORK (AP) — Missy Elliott, one of rap's greatest voices and also a songwriter and producer who has crafted songs for Beyonce and Whitney Houston, is one of the nominees for the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Elliott is the first female rapper nominated for the prestigious prize and could also become the third rapper to enter the organization following recent inductees Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri.
LONDON (AP) — Singer-songwriter Annie Lennox has been made chancellor of Scotland's Glasgow Caledonian University, becoming the first woman to occupy the ceremonial post.
Lennox, who had critical and popular success during the 1980s as the voice of British duo The Eurythmics, said Monday she was "humbled and awed" by her appointment.
She was installed during a special ceremony at the Glasgow campus, where she vowed to use the chancellorship to further the university's mission.
LONDON (AP) — Annie Lennox says she plans to remain a global ambassador for Oxfam despite allegations of sexual misconduct by some of the charity's employees during a relief operation in Haiti.
The former Eurythmics singer told the Sunday Times magazine she was not going to "walk away" from the charity. The 63-year-old Lennox says while Oxfam's actions were flawed, it has promised change.

Sting to perform, receive honor at American Music Awards
NEW YORK (AP) — Sting will hit the stage at the American Music Awards next month, and the icon will receive a special honor for his successful career.
Dick Clark Productions said Monday that Sting will receive The American Music Award of Merit on Nov. 20 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The award was last given in 2008, to Annie Lennox. Other recipients include Michael Jackson, Prince, Johnny Cash, Whitney Houston and Paul McCartney.
