Roosevelt Smart nailed two straight 3-pointers, hitting the last one with 7.4 seconds remaining, to give North Texas a 65-64 advantage. A.J. Lawson fouled Duruji and the 6-foot-7 freshman calmly dropped in both free throws for the win.
RUSTON – It was a total team effort by the Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team on Saturday night as they put an end to its three-game losing skid by having six Bulldogs score in double figures which led to a 97-88 victory over UTEP in front of 3,654 fans inside the Thomas Assembly Center.
What made the scoring output even more impressive for LA Tech (10-7, 1-3 C-USA) was playing with just eight players as two regular starters DaQuan Bracey and Joniah White were not available.
Louisiana Tech turns back Alabama State 74-62
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Daquan Bracey scored 16 points with seven assists, Jacobi Boykins had 14 and five, and Louisiana Tech defeated Alabama State 74-62 on Thursday at the New Orleans Shootout.
Anthony Duruji added 12 points and Jy'lan Washington 11 for the Bulldogs (9-4), who had 21 assists on their 26 baskets. They made half their shots, going 8 of 16 from 3-point range and 18 of 36 inside the arc.
Louisiana Tech faces Fort Wayne in the championship on Friday and Alabama State meets Liberty.
