CSUB rallies late to beat Chicago State 86-73
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Jarkel Joiner scored 22 points for Cal State Bakersfield and the Roadrunners closed on a 17-3 run to beat Chicago State 86-73 on Saturday night.
Chicago State led 70-69 with about three minutes left. Joiner scored five points and Justin Edler-Davis made two 3-pointers during the closing stretch.

Chicago State gets 1st win of season, 90-67 over East-West
CHICAGO (AP) — Anthony Harris scored 19 points, Rob Shaw added 18 points and 10 assists, and Chicago State beat USCAA-member East-West 90-67 for its first win of the season on Thursday night.
The game was close for the entire first half and then the Cougars (1-8) pulled away with a 22-4 run to lead 56-37 with 13:56 left in the second half. The Phantoms never recovered, getting the deficit only as close as 16.
Bradley cruises to 6th win, beating Chicago State 86-70
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Elijah Childs posted his second double-double in three games as Bradley cruised to an 86-70 victory over winless Chicago State on Saturday afternoon.
Darrell Brown knocked down four from long range to total 16 points and Luuk van Bree added 14 for the Braves. Childs finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Nate Kennell chipped in 10 points.
Howell guides Jackson State past Chicago State 81-68
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) — Chris Howell scored 12 of his 17 points in a dominant first half for Jackson State and he added 11 rebounds and five assists to propel the Tigers to an 81-68 victory over Chicago State on Tuesday night.
Lemmie Howard pitched in with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting for the Tigers (1-4), who took the lead for good on Jeremiah Bozeman's 3-pointer that made it 9-6 with 13:29 left in the first half.
East Tennessee State pulls away from Chicago State, 86-61
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) — Jeromy Rodriguez scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Tray Boyd III hit six 3-pointers and added another 18 points off the bench as East Tennessee State kicked off the mainland portion of the Cayman Islands Classic on Monday night, pulling away from Chicago State late for an 86-61 victory.
The victory advances the Buccaneers to face Sam Houston State on Tuesday.
As Vikings fill needs on line, guard Nick Easton expected to get second-round tender
As the Vikings quarterback pursuits maintained a methodical pace on the first day of the NFLs free agency negotiating window, the team took care of a few moves with its restricted free agents Monday.
The team announced it signed two exclusive rights free agents safety Anthony Harris and running back Mack Brown while a NFL source said the team was expected to place a second-round tender on guard Nick Easton, who would earn $2.914 million next season if he signs the tender.

CHICAGO (AP) — Damiyne Durham scored 14 points and led six Roadrunners into double-figure scoring as Cal State Bakersfield won its first Western Athletic Conference game of the season, topping Chicago State, 89-78 on Saturday afternoon.
CSU Bakersfield came into the game on a six-game losing streak, including its first four WAC games. Chicago State's losing streak now stands at 16 games, five straight in conference. The loss was the Cougars 20th of the season.
2 Vikings starters questionable for Sunday’s game
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings starters WR Adam Thielen (lower back) and S Andrew Sendejo (concussion) are both listed as questionable for Sunday's NFC championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Before quarterback Case Keenum took a knee on the extra-point attempt, officially sealing the Vikings shocking 29-24 NFC divisional victory against the Saints, players already were jumping, screaming and crying tears of joy in the locker room deep inside U.S. Bank Stadium.

SEATTLE (AP) — Morgan Means and Richaud Gittens scored 17 points apiece and Seattle edged Chicago State 67-64 on Thursday night, the 13th straight loss for the Cougars.
Matej Kavas added 14 points, including the last basket of the game with 17 seconds left, for the Redhawks (12-7, 1-1 Western Athletic Conference), which forced the Cougars (2-17, 0-2) into a tougher shot that missed as time ran out. Aaron Menzies had a career-high 19 rebounds and 9 points.
Timmer scores career-high, Drake beats Chicago State 79-67
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Reed Timmer buried seven 3-pointers and all seven of his free throws for a career-high 32 points and Drake turned back Chicago State 79-67 on Sunday.
Nick McGlynn just missed his third straight double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs (4-1).
Fred Sims Jr. hit five 3s and scored 25 to lead the Cougars (2-7), while Glen Burns had 15 points with five assists and Deionte Simmons tallied 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Early this week, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer made it clear the home crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium could make a big difference in the Vikings being able to beat a Rams, a team with the No. 1-ranked offense in the NFL and one predicted by many analysts to upset the Purple.
Vocal fans gave Zimmer the volume he wanted, which he said made it difficult for the Rams to get their offense going or make audibles at the line of scrimmage in Sundays 24-7 victory for the Vikings.

The two biggest plays of Sundays game were made in the red zone by backup defenders who were only on the field because of injuries to players ahead of them.
On consecutive snaps late in the first half of a 7-7 game, Stephen Weatherlys tackle for loss at the 20-yard line was followed by Anthony Harris forced fumble and recovery at the 1.
For the third time this season, the Vikings will be without safety Andrew Sendejo on Sunday against the Rams. He has been ruled out due to groin and hamstring injuries.
Safety Anthony Harris could get his third start for Sendejo. However, the ageless Terence Newman filled in when Sendejo exited last week’s game in Washington.
Harris, Sims lead Chicago St in 101-51 rout of Silver Lake
CHICAGO (AP) — Anthony Harris and Fred Sims each scored 19 points and Chicago State broke into the win column, trouncing NAIA member Silver Lake College, 101-51 in its home opener Tuesday night.
The Cougars took an 11-point lead into intermission, 40-29, then poured it on in the second half, outscoring the Pheasants 61-24 over the final 20 minutes.
Vikings safety Harrison Smith to miss Jaguars game
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith will not play against Jacksonville on Sunday because of a severely sprained ankle.
He missed all three days of practice this week and could be out longer after hurting his left ankle during a loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 1. Coach Mike Zimmer said this week Anthony Harris would likely start in place of Smith, who is one of the team's biggest playmakers.
