Buffalo coach Leipold agrees to 5-year contract extension
AMHERST, N.Y. (AP) — University at Buffalo football coach Lance Leipold has agreed to a five-year contract extension following a season in which the Bulls won a school-record 10 games and made their third bowl appearance.
Leipold completed his fourth season in Buffalo, and the extension runs through 2023. With a 23-27 record at Buffalo, he already ranks fourth on the school coaching list for victories.

AMHERST, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo coach Lance Leipold interjected when asked how quickly it took him to turn around a team that went from two victories to being on the verge of winning 10 games for the first time since the university began tracking football records in 1894.
"Quickly? I don't know if it seems like quickly some days," Leipold said with a chuckle, referring to the two years since the Bulls bottomed out in his second season.
Jackson accounts for 6 TDs; Buffalo beats Miami (Ohio) 51-42
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Tyree Jackson threw for 358 yards and three touchdowns — all to Anthony Johnson — and ran for three more scores to help Buffalo beat Miami (Ohio) 51-42 on Tuesday night and remain unbeaten in Mid-American Conference play.
Jackson was 20-of-34 passing with no interceptions. Johnson finished with eight receptions for a career-high 238 yards and Jaret Patterson had 96 yards rushing and a score on 23 carries for Buffalo (8-1, 5-0), which has won four in a row.
Patterson scores 2 late TDs, Buffalo rallies past Toledo
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Freshman Jaret Patterson rushed for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Buffalo rallied from 10 points down to defeat Toledo 31-17 on Saturday and remain undefeated in the Mid-America Conference.
Buffalo (7-1, 4-0) is off to its best start since the 1959 season and are bowl eligible for the fourth time in program history.
Struggling Rutgers returns home to face undefeated Buffalo
PISCATWAY, N.J. (AP) — Rutgers coach Chris Ash started the season with hopes of finding a way to get to a bowl game.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Tyree Jackson passed for 275 yards and three touchdowns, and Kevin Marks ran for 138 yards and two scores to propel Buffalo to a 36-29 victory over Temple on Saturday.
It gave the Bulls their first 2-0 start since 1983 and their first as an FBS member.
Jackson dumped a pass off to Anthony Johnson, who broke a pair of tackles for a 29-yard TD with 59 seconds left. Temple moved to midfield but Buffalo wrapped up the victory on a strip-sack.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Tyree Jackson threw six touchdowns and Buffalo beat Delaware State 48-10 on Saturday in a season opener for both teams.
Jackson was 17 of 27 for 189 yards passing for the Bulls. Jaret Patterson ran for 34 yards and a score.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Jordan Davis scored 21 points to lead four in double-figure scoring as Northern Colorado rolled to an 82-59 victory over Northern Arizona on Tuesday in the first round of the Big Sky Conference Tournament.
The fifth-seeded Bears (21-10) will face fourth-seeded Weber State (20-10) in a Thursday quarterfinal.
Northern Colorado beats North Dakota 79-66
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Jonah Radebaugh had 19 points and 11 rebounds on Saturday and Northern Colorado beat North Dakota 79-66.
Radebaugh was 5 of 7 from 3-point range and 7 of 10 from the field overall. Jordan Davis and Andre Spight added 16 points each and Anthony Johnson scored 12 for the Bears (19-10, 10-6 Big Sky), who won their third straight and fifth of the last six.

Spight made 12 of 19 from the field and all five of his free-throw attempts. Anthony Johnson added 14 points and 10 rebounds and Jalen Sanders scored 10 points for Northern Colorado (12-7, 3-3 Big Sky).
Weber State rallies in second half for 78-74 victory
GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — Jerrick Harding scored 21 points, Zach Braxton added 18 and Weber State defeated Northern Colorado 78-74 on Thursday night.
Harding was right on his average of 21.5 points per game that leads the Big Sky Conference. Ryan Richardson made three 3-pointers and scored 14 points with Ricky Nelson adding 12, including 10 of 11 free throws, for the Wildcats (10-6, 3-1 Big Sky), who have won three straight and six of seven.
Emotions ran high, boiled over even, in the crowd.
Security had to interact with some rowdy fans.
One coach called the extracurricular antics "a circus."
In light of it all, the players put on a pretty good show.
The provocation and tense moments at Greensburg Salem Friday night did not seem to bother them, even Jeannette's high-energy junior Anthony Johnson, who turned into a point guard in the game's most crucial time and helped propel the Jayhawks to an emotional victory.

Spight had five 3s, the last a half-court buzzer-beater than gave him 18 points and the Bears (8-3) a 45-22 lead at the half. The Pioneers (5-6) made the first basket of the second half but Spight quickly answered to double up the score at 48-24.

Jets claim defensive end Kony Ealy from Patriots
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have claimed defensive end Kony Ealy off waivers from the New England Patriots.
To make room on the roster Sunday, the Jets also waived injured defensive lineman Anthony Johnson.
Jets’ McLendon, Pryor out vs. Colts; Wilkerson questionable
NEW YORK (AP) — Jets starting defensive tackle Steve McLendon and safety Calvin Pryor will sit out against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night because of injuries.
Defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson was listed Saturday as questionable after not practicing because of a possible setback with his ailing ankle. Wilkerson has been dealing with soreness in the ankle all season, but appeared to be healthy early in the week while fully participating Thursday and Friday.
Jets place Ryan Clady on IR, activate Devin Smith from PUP
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The banged-up New York Jets shook up their roster a bit.
Left tackle Ryan Clady was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with a shoulder injury, and wide receiver Devin Smith was activated from the physically unable to perform list.
The team also signed defensive lineman Anthony Johnson from New England's practice squad to the active roster and waived defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins. Offensive tackle Zach Sterup was also signed to the practice squad.

The Patriots tinkered with the 53-man roster yesterday for the first time in nearly three weeks to alter the defensive tackle depth chart for schematic reasons.
They released Anthony Johnson and signed John Hughes, according to sources, to complete their first transactions involving the active roster since Sept.?7 when they acquired cornerback Eric Rowe from the Eagles and cut offensive lineman Josh Kline.
