DENVER (AP) — The Vancouver Canucks were refreshed after a nine-day break. The Colorado Avalanche looked like the same team that stumbled into its hiatus.
Jake Virtanen and Antoine Roussel each had a goal and an assist as the Canucks raced to an early lead and defeated Colorado 5-1 Saturday night.
Pettersson scores in return from injury; Canucks beat Wings
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Elias Pettersson was hard on himself after his first game back from a knee injury. His coach was more forgiving.
Pettersson had a goal and an assist, and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Sunday.
"I felt I lost the puck a few times, made some bad decisions, some turnovers. But I've just got to play it simple," Pettersson said.
Pettersson, Roussel power Canucks past Oilers 4-2
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — The Vancouver Canucks have climbed back to .500, yet head coach Travis Green isn't satisfied yet.
Elias Pettersson and Antoine Roussel each had a goal and an assist as the Canucks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 on Thursday night.
The Canucks scored four goals on their first six shots. Tyler Motte and Brock Boeser also scored for Vancouver, which is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games.
NHL takes $5,000 bite into paycheck of Canucks’ Roussel
NEW YORK (AP) — Vancouver Canucks forward Antoine Roussel has been fined $5,000 by the NHL for biting San Jose Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic.
The fine announced by the league Saturday is the maximum allowed under the labor agreement.
The biting happened at 19:20 of the third period of San Jose's 4-0 victory at home over the slumping Canucks.
Canucks beat Bruins 8-5 for 5th straight win
BOSTON (AP) — Bo Horvat had two goals and two assists and the Vancouver Canucks extended their winning streak to five games with an 8-5 victory over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.
Loui Eriksson added two goals and an assist and spurred a five-goal outbust in the second period. Ben Hutton and Erik Gudbranson each had a goal and an assist, and Antoine Roussel and Jake Virtanen added goals for the Canucks. They have scored 26 goals in the last five games.
Virtanen scores twice as Canucks beat Blackhawks 4-2
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Before the Canucks started their season, coach Travis Green said he wanted his team to "score by committee."
Vancouver did just that Wednesday night in a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Jake Virtanen scored twice, Brendan Gaunce got the go-ahead goal midway through the third period and Antoine Roussel also found the net for the Canucks.
Horvat’s goal in 3rd period lifts Canucks past Panthers 3-2
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Bo Horvat came through with the winning goal on a milestone night.
Horvat, playing in his 300th NHL game, scored the tiebreaking goal in the third period, leading the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Saturday night.
"I think that was the icing on top," Horvat said. "The win feels that much better."
Seguin scores 2, Stars blank Blackhawks 4-0 behind Bishop
DALLAS (AP) — Ken Hitchcock's 800th career win came against one of only two NHL coaches with more.
Tyler Seguin scored two goals in the second period, Ben Bishop earned his 22nd career shutout and the Dallas Stars beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-0 on Thursday night to help Hitchcock reach another milestone.
After the game, he was quickly congratulated by Chicago counterpart Joel Quenneville, who ranks second on the career list with 868 coaching wins.
Bishop blanks Edmonton in relief, Stars beat Oilers 6-3
DALLAS (AP) — Dallas Stars coach Ken Hitchcock pulled goalie Kari Lehtonen less than a minute into the second period against the Edmonton Oilers. The move paid off as replacement Ben Bishop shut out the Oilers over the next 39 minutes.
After the game, Hitchcock had praise for his starter.
"Ben was good, but if it wasn't for Kari in the first 10 minutes, we wouldn't have been in the game," Hitchcock said.
Dallas uses 4-goal 1st period to beat Buffalo 5-1
DALLAS (AP) — It was business as usual for Tyler Seguin. A little different for Remi Elie, Antoine Roussel and Gemel Smith.
Seguin scored his fifth power-play goal of the season in Dallas' four-goal first period, and Stars beat the Buffalo Sabres 5-1 on Saturday night.
Elie and Roussel each scored their first goal of the season, and Smith had his first two assists.
Pitlick scores 2, Stars hold on to beat Hurricanes 4-3
DALLAS (AP) — After Tyler Pitlick's first career two-goal game helped Dallas build a four-goal lead, the Stars had to hold on to keep their winning streak going.
Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin also scored to help Dallas beat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 Saturday night for its fourth straight win. Ben Bishop stopped 36 shots.
Dallas coach Ken Hitchcock credited the line centered by Radek Faksa with Pitlick and Antoine Roussel. Faksa assisted on both of Pitlick's goals.
Stars rally in the 3rd to top Pens 3-2
DALLAS (AP) — Antoine Roussel helped the Dallas Stars complete an unlikely comeback against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Roussel capped Dallas' three-goal third period and the Stars rallied for a 3-2 win over the Penguins on Tuesday night.
The Penguins had been 26-0 when leading after two periods, and before Tuesday the Stars were 1-21-2 when trailing after two.
"It's disappointing because of how we had come into the game," Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. "Every point is critically important."
Roussel has hat trick, Benn lifts Stars over Lightning in OT
DALLAS (AP) — Antoine Roussel might be buying lunch for his Dallas Stars teammates for a while.
The fan favorite netted his first career hat trick, captain Jamie Benn scored 3:47 into overtime and the Stars rallied to beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 on Saturday night.
"He bought lunch today, so I think he's going to have to do that again," Benn said.
Sharp scores twice, Stars hold on for 7-6 win over Rangers
NEW YORK (AP) — Patrick Sharp scored twice, Jamie Benn and Patrick Eaves had a goal and two assists each and the Dallas Stars held on for a wild 7-6 victory over the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.
Cody Eakin had a goal and an assist, Antoine Roussel and Adam Cracknell also scored and the Stars won for the third time in nine games (3-5-1). Radek Faksa and Lauri Korpikoski each had two assists.
Eaves, Lehtonen lead Stars to 3-2 win over Oilers
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — The Dallas Stars finally have some positive momentum going.
Patrick Eaves had a goal and an assist and Kari Lehtonen made 40 saves as the Stars won for the second time in two nights, beating the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 on Friday.
Lauri Korpikoski and Antoine Roussel also scored for the Stars, who had lost six of seven before turning things around with a win at Calgary on Thursday night.
Spezza scores in third period, Stars beat Predators 2-1
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Shots eventually turned into a decisive goal for the Dallas Stars.
Jason Spezza scored midway through the third period to give Dallas a 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.
Adam Cracknell got his second goal of the season for Dallas, and Kari Lehtonen made 27 saves.
Making his first start of the season, Lehtonen was not tested early, making just four saves in the first period. The Stars outshot Nashville 37-28 in the game.
Stars win 4-2 over Ducks in opener matching division champs
DALLAS (AP) — While Adam Cracknell is one of the newcomers for the Dallas Stars, he knew Antoine Roussel wanted the puck.
Roussel scored the tie-breaking goal on the next shift, and only 22 seconds after Andrew Cogliano's second goal for Anaheim had tied the season opener early in the third period, and Dallas went on to a 4-2 victory over the Ducks on Thursday night.
