LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation" has checked into the No. 1 spot at the box office in its opening weekend and left the Dwayne Johnson action thriller, "Skyscraper," in the dust.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The "Ant-Man" sequel may be about tiny superheroes, but the film is making a big statement about female empowerment by featuring Evangeline Lilly's The Wasp not only in the title, but giving her a larger stake in Marvel's sprawling movie franchise.

Our states largest woodpecker, the crow-sized pileated woodpecker, has been heard of late. Listen for drumming on hollow branches and trunks of trees. The bird is announcing its territory.
The birds also have started calling. Their call sounds like a cackle. It resembles a flickers call, but is louder and richer. The woodpecker is a relatively silent bird for much of the year, but that changes when nesting season arrives.
DeQuan Jones had 29 points and Walt Lemon Jr. added 24, but it wasn't enough for the Mad Ants to avoid a 118-102 loss to the Greensboro Swarm tonight in front of 1,063 fans at The Fieldhouse.
Damien Wilkins, who earlier this season played for the NBA's Indiana Pacers, had 20 points to lead the Swarm. The Pacers own and operate the Mad Ants (20-15), who had won four of their previous five games.

That lesson — and others — is learned in the first trailer for Marvel's "Ant-Man and the Wasp," which landed on YouTube on Tuesday morning.
Paul Rudd is back shrinking it up as the mini hero, this time with Evangeline Lilly at his side as the Wasp (aka Hope van Dyne). Michael Douglas returns as Dr. Hank Pym.
We find Rudd's Scott Lang kinda ticked that the Wasp was given wings. And blasters.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The first trailer for "Ant-Man and the Wasp," the first movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to feature a woman in a title role, is out with plenty of action, humor and more shrinking than a Rick Moranis movie.

Timberlake previews album in forest-like space, bugs and all
NEW YORK (AP) — If the latest photos from Justin Timberlake's new album campaign don't relay the message that he's into nature and the woods, his first listening for the project drove the point home.
Tuesday's event in New York City to debut "Man of the Woods" was decorated with bushes and trees, while ants coated in black garlic and rose oil and grasshoppers were served.
What was the biggest difference with the Mad Ants tonight in their 127-124 victory over the Greensboro Swarm? The way they attacked the basket.
Not only does that get more points for Walt Lemon Jr., who came into the night with 23 points per game (sixth in the G League) and had 26 tonight, but it opens things up for his teammates and gets the Mad Ants to the free-throw line.
When the Mad Ants had played the Greensboro Swarm, in the second game of the season, a victory propelled them to an eight-game winning streak that put them atop the G League.
The Mad Ants are hoping tonight's victory over the Swarm : 127-124 at Memorial Coliseum : sparks them to similar rewards.

DeQuan Jones had a team-best four shot blocks in the Mad Ants' 105-93 victory over the Greensboro Swarm on Tuesday night, but there seems to be a bit of disagreement over whether that will be commonplace this season.
"He's not necessarily a rim protector," coach Steve Gansey said, though lauding just how good his NBA veteran looked in helping to even the Mad Ants' record at 1-1 heading into tonight's game at Memorial Coliseum against defending champion Raptors 905 (0-1).
The Mad Ants want stinginess to be a staple of their season and they demonstrated that defensive tenacity Tuesday in a 105-93 victory over the Greensboro Swarm in front of 4,234 fans at Memorial Coliseum for the home opener.
"We just wanted to come in and set the tone ourselves, not be in a position like the last game where we were battling back," said DeQuan Jones, who had four of Fort Wayne's seven blocks after the Mad Ants' early 16-2 run gave them a 19-12 lead they didn't squander.
There was much on which the Mad Ants can build from their 105-93 victory tonight over the Greensboro Swarm :another great game from Walter Lemon Jr., defensive intensity, a competent effort closing out once they built a lead : and they showed that speed that we had heard so much about.
The victory for the Mad Ants (1-1) was cemented with 4:44 left in the fourth quarter, when Lemon intercepted a Charles Cooke pass at center court and sprinted for a lay-up and a 95-83 lead.
Efforts aim to limit the spread of fire ants in the US
They sting, damage crops and wildlife, and are extending their range in the United States.
