NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Houston coach Kelvin Sampson was upset at halftime. He felt a lot better when it was over.
Corey Davis Jr. made eight 3-pointers and scored 26 points to help the ninth-ranked Cougars beat Tulane 85-50 on Sunday for their 10th consecutive victory.
Houston led by 17 on two occasions in the first half, but lowly Tulane closed to 37-28 at halftime. Sampson felt his team did too much performing and not enough competing in the first half.
No. 3 Gonzaga beats Loyola Marymount, wins 15th straight
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Rui Hachimura scored 22 points, Brandon Clarke added 17 and No. 3 Gonzaga beat Loyola Marymount 73-60 on Thursday night to extend its winning streak to 15 games.
It was only the second West Coast Conference game that the Bulldogs (24-2, 11-0) have not led by at least 20 at some point.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Corey Davis Jr. and the No. 12 Houston Cougars dominated at both ends of the court — again.
Davis scored 26 points on 8-for-13 shooting and Houston had another strong defensive effort to beat UCF 77-68 on Thursday night.
"If you just take a white picket fence and put it around the paint, that's how our defense is," Cougars coach Kelvin Sampson said. "They made some difficult shots tonight, but we didn't give up any easy shots."
Brooks, No. 17 Houston beat Tulsa 77-65 for 20th win
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Nate Hinton and No. 17 Houston heated up in a hurry.
Hinton hit a tough 3-pointer as the Cougars broke away late in the first half, becoming the first Division I men's team to reach 20 wins this season by beating Tulsa 77-65 Sunday.
Armoni Brooks scored 22 points, including six 3-pointers, for the Cougars (20-1, 7-1 American Athletic Conference).
No. 17 Houston hits 16 3-pointers in 94-50 win over ECU
HOUSTON (AP) — Houston had one of its best offensive nights of the season. Coach Kelvin Sampson was more impressed with his team's intensity and defense.
Armoni Brooks scored 17 points, Corey Davis Jr. added 12 and No. 17 Houston hit 16 3-pointers while beating East Carolina 94-50 on Wednesday.
Brooks and Davis combined to hit nine 3-pointers while the Cougars (19-1, 6-1 American Athletic Conference) finished 16 of 24 from behind the arc.
Brady scores 13, No. 21 Houston holds out USF 69-60
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Kelvin Sampson struggled to find appropriate words to describe a truly ugly game.
There were 32 turnovers, 62 fouls, 76 free throws attempted, 32 percent shooting by one team and slightly over 40 percent for the other.
"Not aesthetically pleasing," Sampson said after No. 21 Houston held off South Florida 69-60 on Saturday night. "I felt bad that people had to watch that."
No. 21 Houston leads throughout in 69-58 win at SMU
DALLAS (AP) — Houston coach Kelvin Sampson has been pushing Corey Davis Jr. to be more aggressive and look for more shots.
"He's almost too unselfish," said Sampson, though the senior guard seems to be getting the message from a coach who got his 600th career victory Wednesday night.
Davis scored 15 of his 20 points after halftime, when he made his first seven shots, and No. 21 Houston led throughout in a 69-58 win at SMU. It was Davis' second 20-point game in a row.
Davis, Brooks lead No. 17 Houston past Wichita State
HOUSTON (AP) — Houston needed another second half rally. It all started with pace and point guard Galen Robinson Jr.

No. 19 Houston beats Memphis to improve to 15-0
HOUSTON (AP) — When Houston needed a spark Sunday night, Armoni Brooks came through for the Cougars.
Brooks scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half and hit four of his six 3-pointers and No. 19 Houston remained undefeated with a 90-77 victory over Memphis.

HOUSTON (AP) — Houston finished off its best nonconference season in school history with a strong second half Saturday.
Corey Davis Jr. scored 19 points, DeJon Jarreau had 13 and No. 22 Houston beat NJIT 80-59 to remain undefeated.
Brison Gresham had 11 points and seven rebounds and Armoni Brooks had 10 points for Houston (13-0), which shot 50 percent overall and 63 percent in the second half.

HOUSTON (AP) — Undefeated Houston pushed aside winless Coppin State for yet another home victory.
Corey Davis had 16 points, Breaon Brady added 13 and No. 21 Houston beat Coppin State 75-44 on Sunday to improve to 12-0 and extend the nation's longest home winning streak to 25.
"It means a lot to take care of our home court," Davis said. "It always puts an extra boost in us. It helps that we win all our games, but we make sure we take care of our business at home."

NEW YORK (AP) — Zion Williamson had 17 points, 13 rebounds and Duke fans roaring each time he touched the ball before he fouled out, and the second-ranked Blue Devils ended No. 12 Texas Tech's unbeaten start with a 69-58 victory Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.
RJ Barrett scored 16 points for the Blue Devils (11-1) and the program earned its 35th win at MSG. With the Garden rocking from the tip, the Blue Devils must have felt like they had a home game.
Davis scores 17 points, No. 24 Houston beats Saint Louis
HOUSTON (AP) — Corey Davis Jr. broke out of a shooting slump to help Houston improve to 10-0.
Davis hit the tiebreaking 3-pointer with 29 seconds left and had 17 points in No. 24 Houston's 68-64 comeback victory over Saint Louis on Sunday.
Davis was 3 of 5 from 3-point range and hit all six of his free throws. He entered Sunday shooting 8 of 38 on 3-pointers over his last five games.
Robinson, Brooks rally No. 24 Houston past LSU, 82-76
HOUSTON (AP) — Galen Robinson Jr. heard the "LSU! LSU!" chants with Houston down 15 points in the second half.
"It really touched a nerve, so I was like, 'There's no way I'm quitting, no way we are losing this game.'" Robinson said. "That's the mindset that I had."
Robinson scored 18 points, Armoni Brooks added 13 — all in the second half — and No. 24 Houston overcame the big deficit to beat LSU 82-76 on Wednesday night.

Robinson, Brooks lead Houston past Lamar 79-56
HOUSTON (AP) — Galen Robinson Jr. matched his career high with 20 points and Armoni Brooks added 17 points and nine rebounds to propel Houston to a 79-56 victory over Lamar on Tuesday night.

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Cougars opened their new home with a big victory.
Armoni Brooks had 22 points and nine rebounds, Nate Hinton added 14 points and Houston won its 20th straight home game, 65-61 over 18th-ranked Oregon on Saturday night.
Brooks was 7 of 14 from the field, including 6 of 13 on 3-pointers, to lead Houston (6-0), which shot 33 percent from the field.
Houston wins 20th straight at home before opening new arena
HOUSTON (AP) — Corey Davis Jr. scored 23 points, Armoni Brooks grabbed 12 rebounds and Houston beat Texas Rio Grande Valley 58-53 on Wednesday night.
It was Houston's final home game at Texas Southern's H&PE Arena before opening the new Fertitta Center on Saturday with a sold-out game against No. 18 Oregon.
The Cougars played at Texas Southern's gym for the entire 2017-18 season, reeling off 20 straight home wins. The streak is tied for the second-longest active home streak in the nation.
Brooks, bench spark Houston rout of Northwestern St, 82-55
HOUSTON (AP) — Armoni Brooks scored 16 points and three teammates came off the bench to score 13 point each as Houston routed Northwestern State, 82-55 in the Men Against Breast Cancer Cougar Cup Monday night.
The victory was the Cougars' 18th straight win on their home court, tying Charleston for second place behind South Dakota State for longest active home court win streak.
Brooks leads Houston in 79-68 win over cross-town rival Rice
HOUSTON (AP) — Armoni Brooks scored 20 points, Corey Davis Jr. added 18 with six assists and Houston held off cross-town rival Rice 79-69 Wednesday night in the 81st meeting.
Nate Hinton and Galen Robinson Jr. scored 15 apiece for the Cougars (2-0), who scored 26 points off of fast breaks and shot 45 percent from the field. It was Brooks' second straight 20-point game.

HOUSTON (AP) — Armoni Brooks tied his career best by knocking down six 3-pointers while putting up 24 points as Houston cruised past Alabama A&M 101-54 in the Cougars' season-opener Saturday night.
Named the 2018 Sixth Man of the Year, Brooks was 9 of 13 from the field, including 6 of 10 from distance.
Houston won its 16th straight home game at H&PE Arena while the Cougars new home, $60-million Fertitta Center, is nearing completion.
It might only be a one-year rental, but the University of Houston has found things to be cozy at H&PE Arena.
So much so that the Cougars have yet to lose at their home away from home.
"We just turn left, turn right and we're right here," guard Rob Gray said of playing a few blocks from campus at Texas Southern. "It's really working out for us."
No. 23 Houston use big first half in 109-58 win over ECU
HOUSTON (AP) — Houston coach Kelvin Sampson said his Cougars "came out sharp as a blade."
That might be an understatement.
Rob Gray had 19 points and 11 assists, and No. 23 Houston used a huge first half en route to a 109-58 victory over East Carolina on Sunday.
Armoni Brooks added 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting from 3-point range for the Cougars (22-6, 12-4 American), who shot 67 percent from the field. Corey Davis Jr. chipped in 16 points, six rebounds and seven assists.
Thornton, Rivers lead Memphis past No. 23 Houston
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Houston struggled offensively, and its usual tough defense was missing in the second half.
It looks as if it might be a short stay in the Top 25 for the Cougars.
No. 23 Houston, which entered the AP poll this week for the first time this season, gave up a season high in points and suffered through a dismal second-half shooting performance in a 91-85 loss to Memphis on Thursday night, ending a five-game winning streak.
Houston leads start to finish in 80-59 rout over Temple
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Corey Davis Jr. scored 20 points, Devin Davis had a double-double and Houston rolled to its fifth straight victory with an 80-59 win against Temple on Sunday.
Houston (21-5, 11-3 American) raced to a 15-0 lead with Davis making three 3-pointers and baskets from Breaon Brady, Rob Gray and Davis. Temple didn't score until 13:34 on a dunk by Obi Enechionyia. The Owls missed their first six shots and turned it over four times.
Houston ends No. 5 Cincinnati’s 16-game win streak, 67-62
HOUSTON (AP) — Defense has been Cincinnati's cornerstone this season.
The Bearcats defense couldn't make up for a second half offensive slump Thursday night, and Houston made Cincinnati pay.
Corey Davis Jr. and Devin Davis each scored 16 points, and Houston beat No. 5 Cincinnati 67-62 to snap the nation's longest winning streak at 16 games.
"You never want to lose, but you learn some things from the loss," Cincinnati forward Kyle Washington said.
Houston dissects cold-shooting Tulane 73-42
HOUSTON (AP) — Devin Davis scored 16 points, Armoni Brooks had a double-double and Houston throttled Tulane 73-42 on Sunday to stay in a tie for second place in the American Athletic Conference standings with Wichita State.
Houston hosts conference leader, and sixth-ranked, Cincinnati (23-2, 12-0) on Thursday.
Brooks finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cougars capped a 10-0 run with Fabian White Jr.'s dunk that made it 19-7 with 11:49 before intermission and the Cougars never looked back.

HOUSTON (AP) — Rob Gray scored 34 points with five 3-pointers, Armoni Brooks scored 15 on five 3s, and Houston hit 18 from beyond the arc to set an American Athletic Conference record for most 3s in a regular season conference game in its 104-71 win over Tulsa on Thursday night.
Tulsa held the previous conference-high mark with 17 3-pointers against UConn on Jan. 3.
The 18 3s tied for the second most 3-pointers in Houston single-game history. The Cougars hit 18 3s against SMU on Feb. 16, 2008.
Brady scores 21, Houston holds off Temple for 76-73 win
HOUSTON (AP) — Breaon Brady scored a career-high 21 points, on 8-of-9 shooting, and grabbed nine rebounds and Houston held off a late rally by Temple for a 76-73 win on Saturday night.
Brady, a JUCO transfer, left the game midway through the second half with an apparent ankle injury.
Houston tops S. Florida 79-60 behind Davis and Brooks
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Corey Davis Jr., scored 15 points and Armoni Brooks scored 14 and Houston defeated South Florida 79-60 Thursday for the Cougars' third straight win.
Rob Gray added 11 points for Houston and Devin Davis had 10. Houston (11-2) now has won 10 of 11. South Florida (7-7) saw its three-game win streak come to an end. Justin Brown led the Bulls with 16 points, David Collins, 15 and Isaiah Manderson 10.
Gray scores 24 points, Houston beats Providence 70-59
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Rob Gray scored 24 points and Houston defeated Providence 70-59 on Wednesday night in the Hall of Fame Holiday Classic.
Gray provided the spark in a couple of offensive bursts in the second half, scoring eight straight points during a 13-6 run to start the second half that expanded an eight-point lead to 44-29. He later scored seven unanswered points to put the Cougars (10-2) ahead 56-35 with 12 minutes left.
Houston pulls away from Prairie View A&M for 92-72 victory
HOUSTON (AP) — Armoni Brooks scored a career-high 24 points, Corey Davis Jr. added 15 and Houston beat Prairie View A&M 92-72 on Sunday.
Houston led 44-39 at halftime before the Panthers went on a 10-4 run out of the break with Dennis Jones scoring half their points. The game stayed even until Brooks made three 3s in less than two minutes and the Cougars never trailed again.
Gray leads Houston to 75-66 win over New Orleans
HOUSTON (AP) — Rob Gray scored 23 points and Houston went 8 for 8 from the foul line in the final 28 seconds to hold off New Orleans 75-66 on Wednesday night.
New Orleans made its four 3-pointers and shot 54 percent in the second half but the Cougars never faltered. After the Privateers closed within five with 2:17 to play, Armoni Brooks knocked down a 3-pointer and Gray followed with a layup for a 10-point lead at 1:13.
Houston rolls to 97-58 win over Incarnate Word
HOUSTON (AP) — Wes VanBeck and Rob Gray scored 16 points apiece and led six players in double figures as Houston rolled to a 97-58 win over Incarnate Word on Saturday night.
Fabian White Jr. added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Cougars (4-1). Corey Davis Jr. also had 14 points and Devin Davis and Armoni Brooks had 10 apiece. The team averaged 53 percent from the field compared to 32 percent for Incarnate Word.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Damyean Dotson scored a career-high 32 points and Houston cruised past Tulane 91-62 on Wednesday night.
Dotson was 12 of 16 from the floor including 6 of 7 from distance for the Cougars (17-7, 8-4 American) who have won four straight. Rob Gray Jr. added 18 points and Armoni Brooks 10.
Houston trailed early but Dotson and Wes VanBeck made back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Cougars on top 15-13 with 11:41 left in the half. They had a 38-23 advantage at the break.
Dotson scores 20, Houston downs Tulane 65-51
HOUSTON (AP) — Damyean Dotson scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds in his 16th career 20-point game and Houston used a big first half to beat a struggling Tulane 65-51 on Tuesday night to end a three-game skid.
Tulane shot a season-low 18 of 59 from the floor (30.5 percent) while the Cougars (14-7, 5-4 American) shot 40 percent and outrebounded the Green Wave 44-37.
Hot start carries Houston to 74-58 win over East Carolina
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Rob Gray scored 19 points, Armoni Brooks had 15 and Houston took control early and defeated East Carolina 74-58 on Wednesday night.
Wes Van Beck added 13 points on a perfect night of shooting and Damyean Dotson has 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars (13-4, 4-1 American).
