Denver Art Museum downgrades vandalism damage estimate
DENVER (AP) — The Denver Art Museum now estimates the damage done by a vandal last month at less than $100,000, down from the nearly $2 million it initially reported to police.
Museum spokeswoman Jena Pruett told The Denver Post Tuesday that nearly all the Chinese and Mayan artifacts that were damaged can be repaired. One exception is a 19th century vase from China.

Philanthropist again funds Wichita Art Museum admissions
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Wichita philanthropist Colby Sandlian is ensuring that Saturday visits to the Wichita Art Museum will remain free.
Sandlian has donated $1 million to the Wichita Community Foundation to establish an endowed fund for the museum to continue free admissions.
Museum Director Patricia McConnell said in a news release that Saturday admissions account for nearly half of the museum's annual attendance.
Painting stolen in WWII is heading from US to Ukraine
A painting that was stolen during World War II and later spent decades in a Connecticut home will be returned to an art museum in Ukraine, according to U.S. and Ukrainian officials.
The FBI seized the painting after a retired couple in Ridgefield transported it to Washington, D.C., to be auctioned last year. The couple, David and Gabby Tracy, had long cherished the painting but figured it was a copy, not the signed original.

Man arrested in shattering of sculptures at Denver museum
DENVER (AP) — An 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief for shattering glass sculptures and damaging other pieces at the Denver Art Museum, police said Monday.
Jake Siebenlist was taken into custody Sunday at the museum in downtown Denver.
Witnesses told police that Siebenlist pushed a glass sculpture to the ground then began to throw other sculptures around the room. Court records say he also tried to damage two paintings that were protected by plastic glass.
