Rangers reliever Bush has elbow surgery out until mid-2019
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Rangers hard-throwing reliever Matt Bush has had surgery to repair a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament that will keep him out the first half of the 2019 season.
Assistant general manager Mike Daly says Bush did not have Tommy John surgery. Instead, he had a procedure to repair and reinforce the ligament in his right elbow. Bush hasn't pitched since June 13. He had a 4.70 ERA in 23 innings over 21 appearances.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Oakland Athletics kept up their power surge and took advantage of Texas' bullpen struggles to get a rare late-inning comeback win from an eight-run deficit.
Khris Davis' three-run homer in the 10th inning capped the Athletics' big rally in a 13-10 win over the Rangers on Tuesday night.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Austin Bibens-Dirkx earned his first victory of the season, shutting down a struggling Kansas City Royals squad that's wondering when it will get its next win.
Bibens-Dirkx pitched effectively into the seventh inning, Rougned Odor homered and the Texas Rangers extended their winning streak to a season-high five games with a 3-2 victory Wednesday night.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Texas Rangers sent rookie left-hander Yohander Mendez back to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday for violating team rules.
Mendez was supposed to start Wednesday's series finale against Kansas City. But right-hander Austin Bibens-Dirkx will get the ball instead.
"It's not criminal, nothing involving MLB or the police," general manager Jon Daniels said. "There will be a program that we'll work with Yohander on."
Cron hits tying homer, Angels beat Rangers 7-4 in 10th
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — C.J. Cron didn't think his line drive with two outs in the ninth inning would get over the left field fence in fair territory Saturday night.
"I thought it might have hooked foul or it might have been a double," the Los Angeles Angels first baseman said. "But when I rounded first, I saw (Texas left fielder Delino) DeShields had his hands on his knees.
"I thought, 'Wow! I guess that one got out.' It was pretty cool."
