Appeals Court Chief Judge Neubauer files for Supreme court
RACINE, Wis. (AP) — The chief judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals has filed for candidacy to become a Supreme Court justice.
Judge Lisa Neubauer filed over 5,500 signatures on Thursday, and is the first candidate to file for the 2019 spring election for the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Lawsuit against Madison school district over alleged sex abuse dismissed
A federal judge on Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit filed a year ago on behalf of a girl who claimed that she was sexually abused by a staff person at Whitehorse Middle School.
U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb wrote that she found no evidence that then-principal Deb Ptak was aware or had been informed of any sexual abuse when it allegedly occurred, or that Ptak saw or was told of behavior that would lead her to conclude that sexual abuse would occur.
Wisconsin same-sex couple win lawsuit over birth certificate
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A federal judge has ruled that Wisconsin must put the names of many same-sex parents on their children's birth certificates.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/2cxK7P5) reports U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb granted judgment in favor of a Madison couple. Chelsea and Jessamy Torres filed the discrimination lawsuit last year because the state failed to put both their names on their baby's birth certificate.
