Simon, a transfer from Arizona, led St. John's (15-15, 4-13 Big East) with 24 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and five assists. Marvin Clark II, who sank a pair of insurance free throws at the very end, added 20 points and two blocked shots, Bashir Ahmed tossed in 22 points.

He had used the word 'lethargic,' to describe his St. John's Red Storm's play in the first half of a 69-59 win over Iona in the second game of the Holiday Festival on Sunday at Madison Square Garden, and was asked if he could explain why that was.

NEW YORK (AP) — Shamorie Ponds scored 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting to become the third freshman in St. John's history to score 500 points in a season, and the Red Storm rallied to beat Georgetown 86-80 on Saturday to end a two-game skid.
Bashir Ahmed and Frederico Mussini scored 16 apiece for St. John's (13-16, 7-9 Big East), which was outrebounded 36-29 but scored 25 points off 22 Georgetown turnovers.
Hauser, Heldt help Marquette cruise past St. John’s, 93-71
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Sam Hauser tied a career-best with 19 points, including five 3-pointers, Matt Heldt had the first double-double of his career and Marquette cruised to a 93-71 win over St. John's on Tuesday night.
Heldt had 15 points, 10 rebounds — both career highs — for Marquette (17-10, 8-7 Big East). Andrew Rowsey scored 18 with six assists, Katin Reinhardt added 16 and five and Jajuan Johnson scored 11.

NEW YORK (AP) — Marcus LoVett scored 19 points, Shamorie Ponds added 17 and Tariq Owens had a double-double to lead St. John's to a 78-70 win over Seton Hall on Saturday.
Owens had 12 rebounds and 10 points, plus four blocks, for the Red Storm (12-14, 6-7 Big East). Bashir Ahmed added 11 points for St. John's, which closed the first half of a 16-3 run to open a 37-27 lead.
Hart, DiVincenzo lead Villanova past St. John’s 92-79
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Less than a week ago, Donte DiVincenzo's only bucket at the Wells Fargo Center came right at the buzzer.
Six days later in the same arena, the redshirt freshman reeled off 11 straight points in an impressive flurry.
DiVincenzo scored a career-high 20 points, and No. 4 Villanova beat St. John's 92-79 on Saturday night.

St. John's had a 10-3 run to build its lead to 78-64 with 4:44 left. The Golden Eagles (14-8, 5-5) answered with a pair of 3-pointers to get within eight but they would get no closer.

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — Marcus Lovett scored 22 points and St. John's defeated DePaul 79-73 on Sunday to start 2-0 in Big East play for the first time since 2010-11.
The Red Storm (8-7, 2-0) followed up their win over No. 13 Butler by beating the Blue Demons (7-8, 0-2), who lost by three points to top-ranked Villanova in their Big East opener.
Shamorie Ponds added 15 points and Bashir Ahmed four 3-pointers and 14 points. Darien Williams had 12 points and nine rebounds.
