New-look Wisconsin O-line answers bell in season opener
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — One of the biggest question marks surrounding the 19th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers entering this season was their offensive line.
Axe to grind: Gophers and Badgers renew Midwest grudge match
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — If given the chance to deliver an inspirational talk to teammates this week, Wisconsin offensive lineman Beau Benzschawel would keep it short and get right to the point.
The exact two-word phrase is best left said in the privacy of the locker room, though it might go along the lines of "Beat Minnesota."
Seen and heard at Kohl Center as Badgers host Cornhuskers
On Monday night, the University of Wisconsin recognized the Badgers football team’s 34-24 victory over the Miami Hurricanes in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30 at Hard Rock Stadium in Southern Florida.
A group of Badgers players made an appearance at center court during the first half of Friday night’s game against Nebraska Cornhuskers. The group, which included A.J. Taylor, Beau Benzschawel, Michael Deiter, T.J. Edwards and Alex Hornibrook, drew a standing ovation from the crowd.
Badgers football: Wisconsin offensive lineman Michael Deiter to return for senior season
Per the University of Wisconsin football team's Twitter account, it appears offensive lineman Michael Deiter will return to the Badgers for his senior season.
The account tweeted a photo of UW's five starting offensive linemen this season -- Deiter, Jon Dietzen, Tyler Biadasz, Beau Benzschawel and David Edwards -- with the text, "Gonna be good to have all five of these guys back next season..."
Badgers football: Wisconsin not bothered by playing “true road game” against Miami in Orange Bowl
Even though contractual tie-ins dictated the selection, it still seemed a bit unfair when bowl match-ups were announced Dec. 3 and the University of Wisconsin was placed in the Orange Bowl against Miami.
The Hurricanes won’t leave their home city and take on the Badgers in a "neutral-site” game at Hard Rock Stadium — the same venue Miami compiled a 7-0 record this season.
Badgers football: Three All-Americans help Wisconsin’s offensive line return to prominence
Head coach Paul Chryst and his staff have elevated the entire University of Wisconsin program since arriving in 2015, but the Badgers’ offensive line took more steps forward than perhaps any position group over the last three years.
Junior right guard Beau Benzschawel even laughed in a recent interview when listening to a reporter recall the struggles of UW’s offensive line during that first Chryst season in 2015.
“Yeah, definitely,” Benzschawel said. “I was here."
Badgers football: Five Wisconsin players earn AP All-American honors

Badgers football: Wisconsin’s Paul Chryst, Jonathan Taylor earn AP Big Ten awards
The University of Wisconsin took home two of the four major Big Ten Awards handed out by the Associated Press on Wednesday.
Paul Chryst won another Big Ten Coach of the Year after earning the honor from both the conference’s coaches and media last week. He’s compiled a 33-7 record at UW and won two Big Ten West titles in three years.
Badgers football: Wisconsin guards Beau Benzschawel, Jon Dietzen questionable for BYU game
The University of Wisconsin football team could be desperately thin on the offensive line when the Badgers travel to BYU this weekend for their first road game of the season.
Starting guards Beau Benzschawel and Jon Dietzen are both questionable for Saturday’s game against the Cougars with right leg injuries, leaving UW to potentially dig deeper into its reserves at the position against an opponent with a solid defensive front.
