LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Former Democratic officeholders from Nebraska are gearing up to campaign for their party's candidates ahead of next month's election.
The Nebraska Democratic Party is hosting a rally Tuesday with former U.S. Sens. Ben Nelson and Bob Kerrey, former U.S. Reps. Brad Ashford and John Cavanaugh, and former Lt. Govs. Kim Robak and Maxine Moul.

Machaela Cavanaugh kicked off her campaign Thursday to represent Legislative District 6, an area that includes central and west-central Omaha.
WASHINGTON (AP) — One of the provisions in the latest version of the Senate Republicans' health care bill appears to benefit only the state of Alaska. And to the tune of $2 billion in federal money.
Among the Republican holdouts needed to pass the bill is one of Alaska's senators, Lisa Murkowski. Her state has unusually high medical costs because much of Alaska is remote, and it relies heavily on Medicaid, which the Republican bill would cut.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Democratic Committee is hosting two events in Omaha to rally support for its candidates in the final weeks before the Nov. 8 general election.
The party's nationwide "Forward Together" bus tour is stopping in Omaha Sunday for voter registration and grassroots events. Speakers at the north Omaha registration event include Nebraska state Sens. Tanya Cook and Burke Harr, County Commissioner Chris Rogers and Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing.
