ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Jason Carter scored all 16 points in the second half and Gavin Block 13 of his 15 to rally Ohio to a 78-74 victory over Ball State on Saturday.
Carter missed both of his first-half shots but scored the Bobcats' first 10 points of the second half and added another bucket in the 15-4 run that erased Ball State's 37-30 halftime lead.
James scores 20, NIU beats Ohio in overtime MAC opener
ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Lacey James scored 20 points, including the tiebreaking free throws in overtime, and Northern Illinois beat Ohio 72-66 on Saturday in a Mid-American Conference opener.
James was fouled on a putback — he finished with 14 rebounds — and made two free throws for a 68-66 lead and added two more with 48 seconds left. He missed a pair seconds later but the Huskies retained possession and Levi Bradley added the final points at the line.

ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Jason Carter scored 19 points and Teyvion Kirk scored 17 to lead Ohio to a 78-69 victory over Radford on Saturday.
Doug Taylor grabbed 16 rebounds for the Bobcats (6-3) and Ben Vander Plas scored 14 points.
Four players scored in double figures for the Highlanders (6-3). Carlik Jones had 16 points and six assists, Caleb Tanner also had 16 points, Travis Fields scored 14 and Devin Hutchinson added 10.
Carter’s 25 helps Ohio race past Marshall 101-84
ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Jason Carter matched his career-high with 25 points and added 12 rebounds, two assists and two steals, leading Ohio to a 101-84 win over Marshall on Saturday.
Gavin Block, who was 6 of 7 from 3-point range, and freshman Ben Vander Plas added 18 points apiece off the bench for the Bobcats (5-2). Teyvion Kirk had 17.

Ohio pulls away from Iona in the 2nd half for an 89-65 win
ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Jason Carter scored 20 points and Teyvion Kirk and Ben Vander Plas each added another 18 as Ohio ran away from Iona in the second half to post an 89-65 victory on Tuesday night.
The victory is Ohio's first in the three-game history of the series.
Tajuan Agee got to the basket for a layup with 7:51 left in the first half to put the Gaels up by three, 27-24, but Ohio (4-2) answered with eight straight points to take a 34-27 lead and held a 43-37 lead at intermission.
Carter, Kirk lead Ohio past NAIA-member Wilberforce, 97-61
ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Jason Carter and Teyvion Kirk each scored 17 and Ben Vander Plas added another 16 as Ohio cruised past NAIA-member Wilberforce, 97-61 in a season opener on Wednesday night.
Carter returned to the lineup after missing all but three games a year ago due to injury while Kirk led the Bobcats in scoring and was named to the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman team.
Ohio jumped out to an 11-0 lead while holding Wilberforce scoreless over the first five minutes.
