Baptiste lifts Sabres to 5-3 win over Blackhawks
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — For the first time in nearly a decade, the Buffalo Sabres had the bounces to go their way against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Nicholas Baptiste scored two goals in the third period to lead the Sabres to a 5-3 win over the Blackhawks on Saturday. It was Buffalo's first win over the Blackhawks since December 2009, snapping a 12-game losing streak against Chicago.
Sabres spoil Nash’s debut with retooled Bruins
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Benoit Pouliot and Kyle Okposo scored on consecutive shots in the first period and the Buffalo Sabres beat retooled Boston 4-1 on Sunday in forward Rick Nash's Bruins debut.
Evan Rodrigues and Marco Scandella also scored, and Chad Johnson stopped 34 shots. The Sabres snapped an 0-5-2 home skid against the Bruins.

Wilson helps Sabres cool off Rask, Bruins in 4-2 victory
BOSTON (AP) — Buffalo star Jack Eichel went down with an injury and his teammates responded with one of their best performances of the season.
Scott Wilson had a goal and an assist during Buffalo's big second period, helping the Sabres cool off Tuukka Rask and the Boston Bruins with a 4-2 victory on Saturday night.
"I thought the guys made a terrific effort tonight," Buffalo coach Phil Housley said. "One of the best games I've seen us check."
2nd period surge leads Sabres over Senators 3-2
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres are trying to climb out of the Eastern Conference basement. While they are rising, the Ottawa Senators are headed in the opposite direction.
Evander Kane, Kyle Okposo and Benoit Pouliot scored in the second period, leading the Sabres to a 3-2 victory over the Senators on Tuesday night.

DENVER (AP) — It took 28 games, but the Buffalo Sabres picked a good time to get their first goal of the season from a defenseman.
Buffalo blue liner Jake McCabe had a goal and an assist, Jack Eichel added a goal and two assists, and the Sabres beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-2 on Tuesday night.
Evander Kane broke a third-period tie and Benoit Pouliot also had a goal and an assist for Buffalo. Robin Lehner stopped 35 shots to help the Sabres end a four-game skid.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres had what appeared to be a comfortable lead, up 5-1 headed into the game's final 10 minutes.
Then Arizona scored a goal to turn up the pressure. Another tightened it even more. By the time the Coyotes scored with under a minute left, the Sabres were just hanging on.
Benoit Pouliot had two goals and an assist, and Buffalo held off Arizona's furious late charge to beat the Coyotes 5-4 on Thursday night.

Johnson makes 25 saves, Sabres beat Ducks 3-1
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Phil Housley finally got win No. 1 with the Buffalo Sabres.
Chad Johnson made 25 saves, Benoit Pouliot scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and the Sabres beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-1 on Sunday night for Housley's first victory as an NHL coach.
"It feels great, obviously," Housley said. "But I have to tip my hat to the guys in that locker room."

Oilers dominate Stars in 7-1 victory
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers broke out of their skid in a big way.
Patrick Maroon had a goal and an assist and the Oilers snapped a three-game skid with a 7-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night.
It was a timely win too as Edmonton has seven of its next 12 games against the San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings, all of whom are competing with the Oilers for a postseason berth.

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — The Edmonton Oilers aren't used to this type of start to a season.
Benoit Pouliot scored twice, Cam Talbot made 34 saves and the Oilers stretched their winning streak to four games with a 4-1 victory over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night.
O’Reilly’s 4 points lift Sabres over Oilers 6-2
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Ryan O'Reilly had two goals and two assists and the Buffalo Sabres pounded the Edmonton Oilers 6-2 on Sunday night for their first victory of the season.
Brian Gionta also scored twice, and Kyle Okposo and Matt Moulson had Buffalo's other goals. Robin Lehner made 31 saves.
Benoit Pouliot and Milan Lucic scored for the Oilers, who had won back-to-back games before the loss.
