Fast-moving snowstorm hits, departs from Maine, NH
The first snowfall of 2019 didn't set any records, but it did cause a messy commute in Maine and New Hampshire.
The snow started falling early Thursday and up to 4 inches (10 centimeters) accumulated before the storm departed by noontime. The slippery roads caused a tractor-trailer to jackknife on the Maine Turnpike in Biddeford, snarling traffic.
Derek Schroeter from the National Weather Service said the snowfall reached about 4 inches in a short period in several locations.

Srinidi Mohan's research focuses on a blood marker that can be used to detect the presence of highly aggressive tumors. He says the marker is a reliable indicator for estrogen receptor-negative tumors, the most aggressive types of breast cancer.

Opening statements are scheduled for Tuesday in the trial of 22-year-old Timothy Ortiz of Brooklyn after a jury was seated the day before in York County Superior Court.
Prosecutors say Ortiz killed 30-year-old Jonathan Methot of Biddeford in 2016. Ortiz did not enter a plea during a previous court appearance.

BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) — Former President George H.W. Bush has left a Maine hospital after more than a week of treatment for low blood pressure and fatigue.
A Bush spokesman tweeted Monday that the president "deeply" appreciates the care and good wishes he has received. Spokesman Jim McGrath also told The Associated Press that Bush is "back to his old self" and looking forward to a summer with family and friends.
