Calgary Stampeders win Grey Cup, beating Ottawa 27-16
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Terry Williams and Bo Levi Mitchell helped the Calgary Stampeders end their Grey Cup misery.
Williams had a Grey Cup-record 97-yard punt return for a touchdown and Calgary beat the Ottawa Redblacks 27-16 on Sunday night after falling short the previous two years in the Canadian Football League title game.
Calgary lost 39-33 in overtime to Ottawa in 2016, and dropping a 27-24 decision to Toronto last year. The Stampeders won their eighth title and first since 2014.
Stamps’ Mitchell wins second CFL outstanding player award
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Calgary Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell won his second CFL's outstanding player award Thursday night.
The former Eastern Washington and SMU star from Katy, Texas, also won in 2015. He will lead Calgary into the Grey Cup game Sunday against the Ottawa Redblacks.
Mitchell had a CFL-high — and career-best — 35 touchdown passes in leading Calgary to the league's best regular-season record (13-5). He threw for 5,124 yards.
Johnny Manziel sits in Tiger-Cats’ opening loss

Manziel is making a comeback with the Canadian Football League team after being released by the Cleveland Browns in March 2016. The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner at Texas A&M was 21 of 32 for 168 yards and a touchdown in two exhibition games.

TORONTO (AP) — Bo Levi Mitchell and the Calgary Stampeders led a West Division sweep at the CFL awards banquet Thursday night.
Mitchell was selected the league's outstanding player. The former Eastern Washington star led Calgary to a 15-1-1 record in his 17 starts — he didn't play in the season-ending loss to Montreal — and anchored the CFL's most potent offense.
The Stampeders will face Ottawa in the Grey Cup on Sunday.
